Default Gas mileage...

Just wondering. Got a 93 notch, automatic. I don't usually drive fast, tryin to treat my car like a classic , but occasionally I do enjoy hearing the flowmasters as I accelerate every now and then.

I know that "leadfootedness" on a V8 will eat gas (not that the V8 won't on its own), but I just wanna know how many miles you guys average on a full tank of gas?

Smile Re: Gas mileage...

16-18 mpg if I stay off it, 10-12 if I don't.

Remember, there are a lot of variables in calculating gas mileage. The condition of your engine, the outside temperature, how much you idle, how much city vs highway driving you do and so on. I've seen 25 mpg on a long highway run all in fifth gear (with a 3.55 rear) and as low as 10 mpg when I've been cruising around town and stomping the gas pedal every few minutes while winding it out to the redline in every gear. On the average, with a little bit of energetic driving and a lot of 'normal' driving I see around 16-18 mpg in a stock 5.0 with a 5-speed and a 3.55 rear. Of course, neither I or anyone else buys a V-8 Mustang (or V-8 anything) for good gas mileage. If gas mileage was a real factor for us we would all be driving a Precis.

12-13 with a hopped up 306, 3.25 and no overdrive. Have to use 93 octane premium as well. I guess I'm lucky it's not my daily driver, LOL.

I get 12-14 on a good day with a 351, 5speed, and 4.10s. It is usually 8-10 though because of the way I drive.

first of all, if you were looking for gas mileage you shoudlnt have gotten an automatic. they aid in the guzzling of gas. secondly, if you want a classic car you shouldnt by a '93 anything. thirdly, if you didnt want to drive your car hard and redline her plenty you shouldnt have bought a sports car. (yes i am a prick, but only for the sake of humor, i have nothing against you what-so-ever) lmfao i see you are new to the forums, best of luck

Tell me that again in 2033

Last time I checked I got about 21 mixed driving half highway/half local, with 3.08 and a 5speed.

First of all, I didn't say I bought the car looking for good gas mileage. I also own a Honda so I know what kind of car gets good mileage. I asked what people here are getting with with a full tank.

Secondly, I NEVER said "I'm looking for a classic... so gimmie that 1993 notchback!"

"Thirdly", aren't you a bit young to be a prick just for the sake if it?

Profound statement Rev. I like it, can I use it.

The best mpg I ever got out of my 89 was 27mpg hwy. Pretty good for a convertible automatic car, I thought. Was able to get close but never was able to duplicate it again. I got around 24mpg hwy before the K@N air filter, msd box, and performance tune. After the mods I had to quit checking.. I think if I had it going right now it would get roughly 4 gallons an hour, around town(if that).
