Question Trans Problem car hard to put in gears

I have a 87 mustang 5.0 gt, had stage 3 clutch put in. had for over 3000miles on clutch but trans is very hard to shift, when i try to put the car in gear it is very hard even with the clutch all the way to the floor. Some times if i dont let the car warm up and drive and shift into second i will have a slight grind even with the clutch to the floor. i dont feel that it is the clutch. My only guess is that it is the synchro because it wil grind into reverse if i am not higher than 1500rpm or at 800 or lower. I also heard that it is possiable to be the trow out bearing

Let your car roll forward, then back, and put it into reverse, i wouldnt worry about the grinding, that usually happens even to brand new clutches or t-5's, im having the same problem though getting into 1st, i have to push all the way to the floor, and my clutch isnt that old, this is a sign of a worn quadrant, buy an aftermarket one, im told anything other than the stock plastic one is good, also your cable is most likely stretched, i know mine looks burnt....good luck.

Wow, that changes my mind about ordering the bbk, maybe you could use a firewall adjuster,

do you have to push the clutch to the floor to get it into gear? like in traffic?

what i meant earlier about grinding, was only in reverse, if it grinds into 2nd or 3rd, most likely your t-5 is in bad shape, but my friends z-spec t-5 grinds into 2nd, but somehow he's still jamming it in gear for low 12 second runs, im going to get the bbk, or somekind of quadrant, not sure wich one yet, i'll let you know if i can tell a difference, i hope so.

I recomend the bbk clutch quadrant it helped a lot with the high performance clutch, i am going to try a new cable and a fire wall ajuster and see what happens next, yeah the car only grinds into reverse unless the rpms are a 500 or less or above 1500 rpms

hey guys i suggest the steeda adjustable clutch cable with the quadrant and firewall adjuster. A month ago i went to the track and i had the bbk everything and when i left the line and went to shift into second the cable stretched so bad that i couldnt shift into second. I just put all steeda on yesterday and today i went to the strip and it was shifting great! yeah my synchros or skrewed up to if im in third and shifting down to second it will grind unless im at a certain rpm.

I paid:

$45 for the quadrant
$45 for the firewall adjuster
$45 for the adjustable cable
all bought straight from steeda

so thats $135 bucks.

A place over here carries the steedad kit, how hard is it to install? i know to take the seat out, and get under the dash and remove the old one, and put the new one in, but is it that easy?

Ok, I just went to get my steeda quadrant, they had the whole 3 piece kit for 119$, instead he sold me the D&D kit which looks exactly like it, but its silver instead of blue, and it was 20$ cheaper It's hot outside and i dont look forward to this, but i'll keep posted on how the installation goes, it shouldnt be too hard, i might put it off untill this weekend, but i got a feeling this will be well spent 100$, because im tired of sitting in traffic holding the clutch to the floor

So i'll let ya know.....and good luck with your project.

yeah coupe50 it is as easy as that .. its just a pain in the *** if you have big hands like i do trying to squeeze in there take the old one off and put the new one on... The only problem that i had was getting the new quadrant on because the saft on mine that it slides onto was bent so it was a pain but i got it and i am impressed it works really well. Let me know how yours turns out.
