![]() Well I was working on my motor a little bit ago. I had a breaker bar on the balancer bolt and was taking the motor to TDC when the breaker bar slipped off and smacked me right in the kisser. Busted a nice .25" wide by .5" deep gash in my lip. That was less than fun. Guess I've moved from from breaking my car to breaking myself, lol.
So who else has hurt themselves while working on thier car? -Josh, aka the tireburner

![]() Yeah i constantly get hurt in some way while workin on my car.
If I don't get hurt while working on it, then i'm not workin hard enough. I've torn open my knuckles numerous times, gotten burned a few times, and lots of other small injuries.

![]() I always look like I've been through a war after any serious wrenching. Just today I removed the trans (C4) from my car as it needs it's regular 20-25,000 mile rebuild. I'll have to wear long sleeve shirts for awhile until all the cuts and scrapes heal.
Hope you didn't damage any teeth. Soft tissue will usually heal OK on it's own (maybe some stitches now and then). Teeth and bone usually require more help. Good luck with the work on the car and watch out for those aggressive tools. I always wonder about my own sanity trusting some Chinese jack stands with a 3000 lb car poised 2' above me while lying on my back under it in the driveway. Rev

![]() I managed to close the gap with a butterfly bandage and some duct tape (I'm serious).
Yea I wonder about the jackstands too, only mine are a set of plastic ramps, lol But you know how it goes. You can't have Mustangs in your blood, till you've got blood on your Mustang. -Josh, aka the tireburner

![]() A serious warning here about drive on ramps. My best friend is a lawyer that defends insurance companies. A few years ago, he defended Wal-Mart for selling cheapo stamped metal-riveted ramps. I saw the pictures of the poor guy who while changing his oil had the car fall on him.
He was deader than a mackrel with blood out his mouth and nose while half under the car on top of him with those cheapo ramps folded sideways. Look hard at anything that keeps that 3000 lbs. of steel off your chest. Sorry for the rant but this made me remember those pis. Rev

![]() I onoly dropped a motor on my hand...
I was setting the long-block & tranny back into the car, using chains attached to a metal accessories bracket. Thought the metal bracket was steel, but aluminum... Cracked, broke, and motor dropped onto my hand while guiding the motor mounts into place. Luckily, the wedding ring took most of the beating, and didnt lose any fingers. Whew! That was close!

![]() Since I got rid of my Honda I have been injury free.
![]() Everytime I would get ready to work on the honda I would stock up on band aids. BTW: I had a similar experience getting busted in the mouth with a metal bar. I went temporarily retarded and removed all the weight from one side of my bench press bar and guess what happened.

![]() I'm a tech so i get lots of cuts and bruises. I've split my lip open pulling with dykes (side cutter pliers) on something, it slipped and hit my face, cut my lip open and cut into my gums....not too fun.
I've cut my thumb to the bone on a Toyota Manual trans after my hand slipped. I've crushed just about every body part i can think of ![]() I swear this profession/hobby will get the best of me someday, but i'll enjoy every minute up until then.

![]() Hey, it's not everyday I get to read the phrase "I split my lip open pulling with dykes." Should it not have read "The dykes split the lip open." Come on, anyone else following me? Use you "gutter" mind for this one.

![]() I ripped my thumb wide open on a plastic fan shroud on my dad's 81 Monte Carlo while trying to change an upper radiator hose. I was trying to loosen one of those damn GM hose clamps that you can loosen the screw all the way out but the clamp stays tight.
My wife, a nurse, came over and cleaned it best she could and taped it up with steri-strips, which are a surgical tape like that fiberglass strapping tape. I am scared of needles, so I didnt go to the ER. It healed, but all these years later it still has a 1 1/2 in scar and just enough dirt in it that it looks like a jailhouse tattoo.
