Unhappy Paint chip repair : Please Help!

Hi,
I posted in Blue Oval Lounge cuz the Appearance & Detailing section doesn't get much posts. Anywho, hope someone can help me.

I have several hairline cracks and one big chip on my car; these cracks/chips are all down to bare-metal. I am currently planning on touching up these problems and would like to know the process involved in doing the job right. So far, here's the process I'm thinking of doing:
  • Use spray cleaner to clean area
  • Sand edges with 220 grit
  • Use spray cleaner to remove particles
  • Use 400 grit to sand painting area
  • Use spray cleaner to remove particles
  • Paint with primer and let it dry for 2hrs
  • Sand with 600 grit
  • Repeat last two steps for 2-3 coats of primer
  • Paint area and let it dry for 2hrs (do this with 5 coats)
  • Paint area with clear coat and let it dry for 2hrs (about 2-3 coats)
  • Wash/Wax car after a week or so

I dunno if I should dry/wet-sand after last coat of paint, and then dry/wet-sand again after last coat of clear coat.

Also, is it ok if I use spray cans (of primer, paint, clearcoat)? I'm not aiming for showroom quality job...jsut something to hide the cracks/chips.

Does this plan sound just about right? I left out such things as the tools involved (that is all covered)...just the preppnig and process I'm a litlt rough about.

Please help!

Thanks!
Bye!
