Small Area Paint Repair
I scraped a small portion of my front ground effects on the curb last night. I already bought some automotive spray paint, but I cannot remember the proper procedure for applying and finishing. It's a small area (about 1x3 inches). I have 600, 800, 1000, and 1500 grit wet/dry paper, some tack cloth, and finish restorer (to remove the 1500 grit scratches) I would appreciate anyone who can outline the proper procedure for this repair. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you can't simply buff out the scratches with some rubbing compound or are they real deep? When you say you got automotive spray paint, do you mean that stuff like Plasti-Kote or the real stuff? I'm no expert in this area, but I do know that the touch up paints can wind up looking worse than the problem in a couple years.

It can't be buffed... I basically scraped off all the paint in a 1x3 inch area... I did get a can of real automotive spray paint... and I had done this procedure two years ago... and it came out looking like new. I just need to know what grade paper to use, and which steps are wet or dry.
