Default First Run At Track!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i got there late and managed 2 passed. The shop in town lent me a set of mcreary street e/t's. I was totally nervous on me first run, like standing st the high dive for the first time. LOL. I missed 2nd gear 3 times and spun the heck out of first and second(when it finally went) and managed a 13.326 @ 112 mph. That run stank!!!!!!!! Next run ,i was a little more into the groove. I noticed 1 st wouldnt hook, AT ALL! So when It hit green, I rolled out at 1000 rpm and gave between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle, No luck, wheels spinning and started the rear pushing towards wall so i feathered it, got back on, no luck, Hit 2nd early(1 st was useless) and it spun half way through, let off a little and slammed it into 3rd. 4th, crossed finish at about 5900 to 6100 rpm in 4th, Thats with 28' tires and 456's. One thing i know for sure, DONT GET MCreary's. I had no traction And no launch.my 60 ft and 330 ft time shows that. 1st run 60 ft. 2.214 330 ft at 5.959 1000ft 11.28 and 1/4 13.326

2 nd run much nicer, but not yet there. 60 ft. 2.087, 330ft 5.564, 1000@ 10.731 and 1/4 @12.756 also at 112.

1/8 mile, 1st run. 8.868 1/8 2nd run 8.349.

I dont think drag radials will do it either, I hardly call 100rpm launch, a launch. Anyone care to comment on a good 28 x10.5 x 15 tire. Exteremely limitied street use

Sounds like its time for mickey thompson ET streets.

With 112mph your good for a high 11 or low 12.

Later,

Default hurting top end too

I think all the spinning at the launch with 1st and 2 nd gear also killed some MPH on top end. my 60 ft MPH with slicks should probably at least 30%to 50% faster<------(60 ft speed ) which might translate into 5 MPH, at the traps, give or take a few. We're aiming for mid to high 11's . Then cames the weight removal o the car. Those runs are in a GT with frame and cage, rear seat and sound padding are comming out, new front seats and brakets, heater core and a/c fan, sway bar. and a few more items. Eventually we'll do a k member and a arms and add 175 hp power adder

And a Tremec, or if i can cough up 3200 a jericho built to my motors spec( gearing to power range)

I have to launch my car the same way that you described.

It sux. No telling what you will run on slicks, but it should be fast.

Good luck,

MPH is extremely low, but thats due to the spinning and no hard launch. Did you heat those tires up & lower the psi?? Good luck with the combo and it should run hard with traction!

time for e.t street tires. i have mccreary tires and i have gotten 1.90 60' time launching at 2500-3000. i did about a 5-10 second 2nd gear burnout and had tire pressure set at 15 psi.

That 2nd run, I heated the heck out of the tires. I was in the burnout box(water part) brought the motor to 7000 and dropped it in 3rd and stood on the brakes. LOL i spun them past the tree. hehe. Its funny though, after 1st and 2nd spin, 3rd puts you to the seat and everything starts getting really quick. To bad it wasnt like a 3/8 mile race.

What kind of suspension setup do you have? I think you should be able to pull sub 2.0 60's.

With some good driving the right tires, and suspension, you should be able to pull 1.60 60's and go 11.9@114 or so.

Get it to hook!

My ET STREETS are great! I run the 26" x 11.5" and launch at 5800-6000rpms and they spin maybe a revolution and I pull 1.59-1.600 60fts pretty consistant. The ET STREETS like a little more air then most tires, MT's website says if you aren't hooking increase the pressure.

I run 14 psi in mine, they so make a few 28" tires also, plus this will keep you in a street class, but if you are planning on a power adder, mise well get slicks you'll be racing guys at your local tracks with slicks in the power adder class if they are like our local tracks.

I went 11.90 @ 112.9 in a 15mph head wind, 1.60 60ft, best mph came on a crappy 60ft run 1.80 but it went 115mph, on a nice calm day.

Suspension. South side uppers and lowers, battleboxes, Eidbach launch kit(springs), No front sway bar, 50/50 rear's 70/30 fronts.

Update: just ordered a set of Hoosier quick time pro drag D.O.T's
I chose them, because with a 456 gear i think a 26" tire would have to quick a run out in 1st. I went with a 27x11.5.15.

Same set-up I run, what do you cross the line at (rpm) with the 4:56's?

I am having a hard time decieding what I shold go with 4:30 or 4:56's and switch to a 28" tall tire, my cam is made for those gears so my 3:73's are holding me back. I only cross the line at 5150ish right now, I figure the 4:30's will increase it another 1000rpms or so.

With the 28's...mcreary 285 60 15's I was crossing at right around 5500, For my motor/setup, 6500 is max hp on dyno and 6800-7100 is where i shift, depending if im late or early.

1 st run i was into the 7200 rpm limiter and second run i shifted before shift oght on tack 6900.
