HORRIBLE TRANNY NOISE!! PLEASE HELP!!
This evening i was heading home and noticed a noise eminating from my transmition. I seemed issolated on the left side of the trans. When ever i turn LEFT it makes a knock that increases with RPM and increases in volume the tighter the turn is. It seems like something has come loose and is leaning onto the gears in the trans when the weight is shifted to the right. It shifts fine and nothing is wrong until i make a left turn. In a hard left turn, it seems like the trans is wanting to lock up like something is jamming it inside. Please let me know what you think. I Will probably end up rebuilding it any way. Just want some oppinions. Thanks Light Em Up!!! Jonathan

Check your mufflers and see if they are rubbing on the driveshaft.

No. I wouldn't post with out checking that stuff. Thanks any way. This is deff a transmition problem. Any one else care to take a stab at it? Light Em Up!!!

Well, here's a "stab" - have you ruled out
differential problems? That could give both the "ratcheting" feel and sound and could happen just when you turn one direction, (the problem being that set of spiders etc). I'm sure you've checked motor and trans mounts to make sure it's not rocking. |

I go along with macx,I ran synthetic oil in my rear end,about a couple days later I got the same thing.It almost sounds like a popping/creeking sound,only in turns and I found out it was due to a lack of friction motifier in the rear.I changed back to reg 90wt with the friction modifier and the problem was gone.Clutches in the diff were hanging up.Dont know if the modifier is broke down but you never know.

Found it! When i went out to take a look around i noticed that the lower bolt of the starter had backed out. Thus allowing the starter to swing as i turned. Turning left swung it towards the flywheel where it started to grind on the teeth. And vice versa. Tourqued the bolts down and checked the fly wheel, every thing is fine. Just gave me a little scare. Especially seeing as it happened right after some good ol'e tom foolery in a wet parking lot Thanks all. Light Em Up!
