Got SMOKED by a CHEVELLE today!

hahahha! Guess I've had some fun the last few days....I was coming back today from lunch from Houston,Westhiemer area traveling south down the Beltway...I see this Chevy(Chevelle) quite a way ahead of me...it really stood out!
The first thing I noticed was the big white stripe down the back of the car,the car was blue. Then as i got closer, (had the top down, of corse, and the CD cranked) the exaust was DEAFENING!!!!! (but it sounded soooooooo goood!) There were 2 guys in it. The one on the pass. side was pretty nice looking too! hahah! We kept dodging in and out of traffic, and they pulled up next to me and did the signal to go...I KNEW THEY WERE GONNA HAND ME MY ***** BUT IT WAS JUST LOOKING LIKE TOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!......:D
First I just smiled and shook my head, no way, but then I said WTF? I'm sure they knew they would smoke me, so I punched it. Thought maybe theyd get a kick out of it! (one of the few roads around here where the speed limit is STILL 70!)
When they left me in thier dust I was going 102!!!! IT was too cool.....thank God there were no cops around. I was on my way to sign my car insurance papers, i didn't realize were NOT activated a month ago when i THOUGHT I changed my insurance over when I bought the house!!!!!!!! (been driving w/ no ins, I thought. From what I was told, but my old one didnt cancel me yet, I didn't know it!) Wonder how many tickets I could have gotten...
Excessive Speed
No front license plate
No cats
No ins?
ugg........ahhhhhhh what a day!!!!!! :)

Have to watch out for the old muscle cars, some just look fast, and some are fast. Now that I think of it that is the rep that us stangers get:cool:

Very true in both instances. But the muscle cars that are fast usually pretty damn quick. Either way aslong as you had fun doing it and there was no problems I say keep on smilling. :D

i wouldnt feel too bad he probably had a 396 or 454 raw muscle, they arent bogged down by all the pollution crap we have on our newer car's good try though you cant win them all.:D

Eric4Nitrous 04-02-2002 09:26 AM

Christine, don't worry about it, someones always faster. Glad you had fun...hey if it makes you feel any better find those guys again, and tell them theirs a Nitrous Fed 'Tang that wants a peice of them. hehe I'll be glad to trailer it down there!!!

Smoked by vintage muscle

Been there, done that and it is fun, even when you lose, just to have the run with the 'Classic' muscle cars.

Most were lucky to do 13's back in the day but that was mostly due to weight (why big cubes were needed), terrible suspensions and skinny, bias-ply tires. No traction = higher et.

Now, with modernized, upgraded suspensions, big, fat soft rubber and improved tuning those big babies can do 12's and often do, although the smaller-cubed cars are still usually 14-second beauties.

HAHAHA you got spanked...:D

Thats ok, I have had my share of @$$ beattings from SS's. I wish I was there too. I would of tried to take them.

Oh, the other day, I was on my way to a friends house and there was 2 SS's that wanted some... I was going to go for it but just started to sprinkle... I get squirrly on a dry street let alone when it's wet.... Maybe next time :D

I love to race, even when I know I'll lose. As long as it wasn't rice u lost to.

Sounds like you had some fun...

I helped a friend build up his late 40's Studebaker pickup. He's got a nice little 455 Olds in the thing, and it absolutely flies on the big end. I've raced him several times, and so far he's been able to get the best of me. I'll take him hard off the line, but once we hit around 50-60 mph, he comes storming by like God kicked him in the rear bumper. Once I get the car tuned and running like it should, I think I maybe could take him.

Reminds me of my first street race in my car when i first got it in December of 98, completely stock down to the air silencer, AOD with 2.73's (mid 15's).
Well i was at a stoplight and a Grand National pulled up beside me, it sounded like it was modified atleast a little but I had no clue about what was about to happen.
We both took off and that was it, i felt like i was in one of those dreams where you can only run in slow motion, only the GN was in fast forward mode!

I got to the next light and I asked what it runs, and he said "consistent 10.80s"
so, yah, i basically lost by 5 seconds!

ew, sorry to blab so much in your post :)

ERIC: You ever wanna trailer that Bad Boy down here, you let me know!!!!!!!!! :)

It really was fun....I didn't even care that they spanked me...I actually felt good that they wanted the run...They gave me a thumbs up when I finally caught up to them!!! :D heh

As quick as they can be, most of the muscle cars I've run into are pretty mismatched. I still haven't lost to one. :)

1970 Boss 302 (wasn't even competition, he was running like crap)
1969 Coronet 383, tons under the hood, had him hard until it got moving, then I barely had him.
1972 Barracuda 340, heads, cam, intake, headers, gears, drag radials, HD 4spd, everything and the kitchen sink. He pulled me out of the hole, but I took him by 80mph.
1968 Grand Prix (something like that) built, fresh 428. Had him by a few cars, wherever he wanted to run.

Probably some others, but those are just a few.

UNIT>>>>>>>>SMART *****!!!!!!! Yeah, you be d'man!!!! hahahah!

mustangman65_79 04-04-2002 05:03 AM

Sniff, sniff, wahhhhhhhhhhhh!

I lost to a ricer once, but u can't blame me too much. I'm running a 289 with a 2bbl and a bad cam. Also it has 2:80 rear and a c4. But I didn't lose by more then one car lenth. He had turbo's and got me off the start. I was trying to pick my food oof the floor when the light turned green; because I had to slam on the brakes to stop for the light(going about 60)
