Results from the track

Went to the track, pretty interesting day. Didnt take my car because it was raining here, ended up not raining there.

Got to the track, and a nice 8 sec mustang had hit the rail pretty hard and sent the driver to the hospital. Ended up shutting the track down to an eight mile track vs the normal 1/4.

Rode with the buddy in the 408w, on its first run since we had it. Launched it around 3,000 to take it easy to start out. We never made it outta first gear.

Enjoy,
Ryan

Long story short, those are 33 splined strange axles in the car. He opted not to convert over the 5 lug, rather kept the four lugs. The hub on that strange axle ended up being bigger then the opening on his drums and wheels. The guy who built the axle for him, honestly used the wrong axle, but I don’t think he realized it until after he had already used them. SO, my buddy "opened" up the drums a little, but I don’t think he noticed the wheels, don’t fit over the hub.

We noticed the back lug nuts were loose before loading it on the trailer, so re-tightened them again. After this attempt at a pass, they were already loose again. Personally, I think when the slicks hooked, the wheel shifted because it doesn’t fit right, basically cutting all the lugs off at once. We only made it ten feet, but are really glad it happened that soon. This little oversight problem could have cost him his car.

He is probably going to keep these axles and just get new back wheels. Not sure, we are done for the season, and never really got started!

I on the other hand have an itch after being back to the track for the first time in 10 years......I think I am going to get me some heads this December.

That's drag racing. Bad stuff can happen and it's always expensive....or else just plain frustrating...or, usually, both. Fortunately, the wheel problem was 'caught' in time to prevent a wrecked car and possible injuries. Better luck to you (and your bud) next season.

Yeah, we feel pretty lucky and he is glad it is a small expense to fix. Sooner or later, we will run it. This just gives me time to buy some more go fast goodies for mine, so we can break them together.
