hard choice to make!!!
ok, here is my dilema: I am either going to buy a '93 probe GT with 118K miles or an '88 mustang GT with only 74K miles.
Do I want a newer car with high miles or an older car with lower miles? Body in excellent shape with both cars, interior is better in the probe, mustang with oviously much more power. The only real problem is I live in an area that gets snow and I already know 'stangs suck in the snow. I know we already discussed the probe GT but it has come down to one car or the other. What would you guys do? (in all fairness) The high miles scare me a little but driving a mustang in the snow isn't an attractive idea either. Is 118k really that high a milage now a days though? I really need help with this choice and Monday is the deadline I set for myself to choose. What do I do? What do I do? ------------------ '82 GT 351W,BBK shorties, Comp Cam,edelbrock intake 625 cfm carter carb. c-4 tranny w/ pro stick shifter. 4 core radiator Mallory distributor. 3:27 |
go with the stand man. you can buy a set of snow tires for cheap. I use a P/215/60/15 in the winter. it's not that bad if you can stay out of the gas when it's slick. Plus when spring rolles around you'll be glad you got the stang

get the probe. you already have a stang. How many cars does one need to waste their money on, and its hard to have a stang and not start throwing mod money at it.

Just a note, Probe GT's aren't too great in the snow either because of low ground clearance and wider, performance tires. Personally, I would go for the Mustang.

Mustang - no contest. Everyone I know who bought a Probe, sold it within a year. My 93 stang is still running like new.

I would have to go with the Mustang.
The probe would be better in snow, but not good enough to pass up a stang for it. The probe is low, and has too much power for the snow. You can never have too many stangs http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif Ian ------------------ Ian Sim webmaster@stangpower.com STORED: 1988 Mustang GT "Canadian Cobra", stock, AOD, loaded AWESOME PRICES ON MAC PARTS GO TO MY SITE Visit my site: http://www.stangpower.com |
Go with the Stang. Easy choice. The Probe will get around in the snow, okay, but not real good. It has wide tires and low ground clearance with low weight, it doesn't get around as good as what you are thinking it does.
The Mustang will go MUCH MUCH further than the Probe will on motor, especially when considering the fact the Probe has 45xxx more miles on it. Not even a close deal. Put 205/65 R 15 Blizzaks on the stang. It'll get you around more reliably than the Probe, outrun the Probe, and be more fun to own. |
Any replacemnet parts on a probe are 3 times higher than on a mustang. Trust me I work on probes weekly and they do brake down alot. Almost as much as SHO's. Get the mustang and some snow tires you will save yourself alot of headaches down the road.

Buy the Stang then every fall buy a $200 P.O.S. to get through the winter.
