94/95 GT vs. 94/95 Cobra Performance
 

The 94/95 GT's are rated at 215/225 HP (AOD, 5sp) and the Cobras are rated at 240HP.

But the Cobra's have GT40 Heads, Upper and lower Intake, better Cam, 1.7 RR's, 24 lb injecotrs, (and I'm sure I've missed something too) and yet there is only 15 to 25 HP difference in these 2 cars? I don't get it. Can anyone explain this to me?

I just thinking, if I added all this stuff to my GT I'd like a hell of a lot more than 15 to 25 HP.

#1 The Cobra's were underrated.
#2 The Cobra's had the worst computer on the entire planet.
#3 The Cobra cam is marginally better than the stock HO cam, nothing worth noting, most of it's elevated profile comes from the 1.7 rollers rockers.
#4 It's exhaust is too restrictive.

Basically, if you junk the computer, replace the MAF, swap in a decent cam, throw exhaust and gears on, you run really low 13's.

Do that to a GT, you run really high 13's. The difference in the cars only gets more pronounced with mods that balance the equation on the Cobra. From almost a half second faster in factory form, to almost a full second faster with well under $1500 invested equally on both cars.

I thought they might be really under rated.
