Rear speaker size

Ok...so I'm putting some new rear speakers in my car. I've got two 10" subs already and a 4 channel amp. Can anyone recommend what kind of speakers to get? Also, I've read two different things about the size of the factory speakers. One thing said they were 6"x8" and another said 6"x9" (this is an '84 GT hatchback w/ the premium sound package). Anyone know?

Before I had my mods done to mine I had 2 12" Pioneer Diamonds and they were wicked.. Shook everything to pieces and knocked things off the walls inside the house. Also a buddy of mine has a set of MTX I believe 7000 series.. They are great. I have no idea on the rear speakers, I know on the 87-93 rear speakers are 5*7's.

How hard would it be to have 6x9's put in there? I won't be doing this myself...probably giving the car to Best Buy or Circuit City or something. Just wondering how hard it'd be.

you might have to use a saw to make the speaker holes larger. it won't be a clean cut, but it is possible. best buy won't cut out the holes, you'll have to do that yourself. as for speakers go with pioneer or sony explod.

personally i dont like the sony explode, pioneer are great but i have never heard anything better than the infinity kappa, they are expensive but well worth it.

I've had 2 sets of pioneer, they just don't stand up long to the power of a strong amp. I've got the Kappas now, they hold up well.

You might be able to put some 6.5" in there, try www.crutchfield.com . They have a bracket you mount the speakers to, they fit perfectly. Thats what I put in my old truck I had.
