Is This Wrong to do?

As a lot of you know I am headed to college in 3 weeks! YAY!!!! Well, I need $$$ FAST. My car needs parts, I need stuff for my apt, etc etc the list goes on. I was wondering if you guys thought it would be wrong to hock a promise ring? I got it about a year ago from some love struck senior. It's pretty nice and I think I can get about 250 for it because it is 1/2 a carat. So... is this Wrong?!?!? I feel like it is to a certain extent...

Don't do it!
You may not have the money to buy it back. You'll either lose it to them or pay exorbitant interest rate on the money they lent you for a long time.

Trust me, find amother way.

Unit 5302 04-30-2001 06:23 PM

I don't think it's wrong.

You're not with that person anymore, I really don't see the necessity of hanging onto that stuff, then again, I'm a guy. Hehe.

Tryme I'm pretty sure she's talking about selling it outright to a pawn shop.

95GTS 04-30-2001 08:05 PM

Just my opinion, but if you are not with him anymore then what's the point of hanging on to it, unless for sentimental value or something. I dated a girl that was a pack rat and kept EVERYTHING from guys that she dated and everything else. I say get your moneys worth and sell it.

Well I've been out of the whole relationship thing for a while as I've been married for the past couple of years but if I was going to start a relationship with you and you had this ring from another guy I would be really turned off. So if you are apart from this guy my advice is to sell the ring!

I agree with Unit and 96GTS.

If its in the past and you aren't with him anymore, then why keep it. Part of the healing and moving on is cutting all ties. And money is always good for healing. Even for us guys.

RedLilPony,

I would advise you to take it to a jeweler instead. They may give you more money than the pawn shop http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif. BTW, Good luck at the show this weekend!

You're not going out with the guy anymore and it is your ring, so why not.
