Exhaust REEEEEEEEKS!
 

Hello fellow mustang patrons!
I'm very new here and I have millions of questions to ask about mustangs, I have a 85 LX Rag Top Converted 5.0, 5 Lug, well, theres' nothing on the car thats' factory other than the body!

I have a major question of concern, when I run my car it STINKS!!!!! I've cleaned out the IAC, top end, TB, ETC. I also have a slight uneven IDLE, my Final answer is the CATS but i'm not 100% sure and buying something that isn't going to solve the problem is a waste of money!, so, what else could cause my car to reek of dying garbage?
I'd really appreciate a response!

Well, unless you ran over a skunk or had a rodent crawl up your exhaust pipe and die in your muffler, I think the cats are a likely cadidate for the smell. If it smells like rotten eggs or a Chrysler, yes it's the cats, too. You'll have to take them off and inspect them, but I'd do it soon because if there's damage to the converters, they can get EXTREMELY HOT! Do you have the air pump and all of its plumbing hooked up? Is the air tube still going to the center of the cats? This could be another reason if not. Hope this helps, and again, welcome to The Mustang Works!!!
