5.0 emblem removal/replacement

Question for all: I'm thinkng about removing my 5.0 emblems from the d/s ad p/s front 1/4 panels.......1)are they just glued on or is it a glue and snap application? 2)would the "mustang pony" emblem snap/glue right in on in its place? 3)would this look good? I just figure that eveyone knows it's a 5.0, it's almost like when ricers put HONDA or TOYOTA on their windshields http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif!

Those badges are the first thing I look for on a 'stang. Granted in your case you're making enough noise that it'd be hard to not know it's a 5.0 http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/cool.gif There's just something about those 5.0 badges that give me a sense of pride (only wish my '95 had them). I say keep them.

People are stupid, so they might not know you have a 5.0 under the hood without the badges. On top of that, your car is an LX so from a distance it might not be apparent that it's a 5.0 and not a 4 banger, although knowledgable people will be able to spot the other differences. Depends if you want that ricer to know what he's up against, or to smoke him when he thought you were a 2.3 'stang http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

I've always envisioned putting a little 's' or 't' if I were to supercharger or turbocharge my car, so it would be 5.0t for example. People would wonder what that was and then I would show them http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

No it's not like putting "Honda" on a Honda. Not all Mustangs are 5.0s but all Hondas are, you guessed... Hondas.

To answer your questions though,

THey are glued on. You could put the horse right in it's place (but hey, according to your logic, that says it's a Mustang and we already know that http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif) but those 2 emblems are not the same shape.

If you do switch them, hopefully you can get the glue off fully and the paint underneath the emblems will be the exact same b/c if not you will see a little of what was underneath the 5.0 emblem where the 2 diff emblems don't match up.

With only the horse, IMO, it would look good.

Get rid of them. My car doesnt have them, and I have no intentions of replacing them. TRhey were ripped off before I bought the car, and it looks like they were on with that two sided tape. They shouldnt be hard to get off. Every 16 year old with an 4 banger has 5.0 badges on his car, so to me, the car looks better without them. I plan on putting the cobra snake emblems there in the future, after a paint job maybe.

The 5.0 emblems are glued on.
Use some waxed dental floss to get behind them and then just keep sawing away. Not too tricky. You may have paint color differences underneath but the running horse emblem should hide that.

Personally, I like my 5.0 emblems. Badge of pride, for me. Sort of like the engine designations on the old Fords and Chevys; '427', '390', (Ford) '396', '327', '283' etc.
But hey, it's your Mustang to do with as you please. I hope you like the way it comes out.

Thanks guys....I'm still kicking around the idea...... let you know how it comes out if I decide to pull them off. Fox Body, good one, LMAO!
