OUCH!!

How'd he make out in that??

PKRWUD 09-16-2001 01:44 PM

He was fine. It happened on lap 22 of the 30 lap Main Event, and he bent some of his steering linkage. He wasn't able to fix it in time to get back into the race, so that pretty much ended his night. The car probably suffered $500 in damage, but Sheriff John was uninjured.

Take care

I'm fairly to partly certain that that would ruin a good day at the track. I dont see how you can afford to race those cars. Just by watching on t.v. and the local track, when one of those things crashes like that it tears up jack and all the front end is gone. I hope suspension parts and steering stuff is cheap for those cars.

The primary cars that run at Ventura Raceway are 360's, but 3 or 4 times a year the SCRA guys come to play, and they've got the 410's.

The average damage to a Sprint car that flips is over $1000, but Sheriff John lucked out this time and only bent the steering arm. Usually, you bust at least one shock mount, bend 3 or 4 radius rods, bust one of the torsion bar arms, and bend the front axle. This time he was lucky. Next time it will cost him $3k.

Someguys are just better at avoiding accidents. The driver I worked for last year was not one of those. By June, we were on our third hood. You don't break the hood unless you flip over with force, or land ontop of something else while upside down. The driver I'm working for this year still is using the same hood he had all last season. We're first place in the points, too!

Take care
~Chris
