Body Work by Shady Tree...?

My car was hit by a chick in a Camaro the other day. She changed lanes and damaged the front end of my car.

If I go to my (Canadian) insurance company I stand a good chance of getting my insurance pulled (they're not too comfortable with me living in the US).

In order to avoid insurance companies I've been talking with this chick about her just paying out of pocket to get the car fixed. The problem I have is that I have 2 quotes that are only $100 apart ($1100 and $1200) and she thinks that this is too much. Her boyfriend wants me to go to a "friend" who can do the work for $600.

I don't want to get a second grade job done to the car, but if it goes to the insurance companies and I'm at any fault then I'm ****ed. This chick claims that it is all her fault, now, but you never know if she'll change her story.

Has anyone got any advise? Anyone been screwed over by someone like this?

Did you have a police report and if so who got the ticket?
Does she have insurance?

If she does then go through hers not yours.
I am going throught the same thing right now.

Sorry to hear you got hit, hope things work out for you.

No police report, and she has insurance.

I'm not sure how the Texas insurance system works.

As far as I know if she admits guilt and calls her insurance they will have you go and get another estimate from one of their shops that they use and you can usually have them send you a check for the amount of the estimate or just get it fixed there but I would not go through his friend. If he screws it up you are SOL.

The guy that hit me is not even from fl where I am from and I had no problems getting it taken care of.

I just got a check about a week ago for 3000 and I can get it fixed for a lot less.
