1981 Mustang rims. Please LOOK!!!

I found a smashed up 1981 Mustang. I was going to buy the whole car for parts for my V-8 swap, but I found out the engine was a 255 V-8. So I think I'm gonna just buy the rims. They are a tri-bar type factory rim. My question is didn't ford make a weird rim diameter around this time. The tire size is 190/65HR 390. Are these rims the weird ones???

Don't. Those are the TRX Metric's. Michelin is the only make of tire you can buy, they are expensive, and they aren't very good. It's bascially a tread design from the early 80's with very poor wear charachteristics.

That is a "TRX" wheel from the handling package (as unit mentioned) and they come out to be approximately 15.3 inches in diameter and like 6" width. The ONLY replacement tires available are $200 michelins. Don't waste your money, a better investment would be some 16" pony wheels, later style "turbine" wheels or even Cobra R style wheels.

I think I can get them dirt cheap. I am thinking of buying the rims and selling them on E-Bay. How do you guys think these rims are worth.

Most people are also aware that they are worthless. Unless somebody is making a show car original, the TRX's are almost always dumped.

Oh well. You live, you learn

If you really want some TRX's, come and haul the set I have in my backyard away! They are the original wheels off of my Pace Car, but I don't care. My car is so far from original now that it doesn't matter.

I also have a bunch of them. I've stocked up, so my pace car will never run out. They can't give the rims away on Ebay unless they are in perfect shape and polished up. Tires are expensive, but every once in a while a set goes on Ebay for about 1/2 the price of new (still expensive).

i had a pair of those rims on my capri......if you can find the right tire guy ....15s can be sqeezed on them .....when i bought the car they had 15s on them ....when those ***** out my friend sqeezed em off and sqeezed a new set on.....it's hard to do and it scatches the very outer ring of the wheel ....but it can be done
