My New Ride - Backhalved 2001
GOT IT!!!
After two months I finally made the trek back up to HP Motorsports in Omaha, Ne to pick up my car. Thought the day would never come. Needless to say, these guys kick a** in a major way. By far this is the best experience I have ever had in dealing with folks in the automotive industry. Here are a couple of pics. 1 of the outside and the other of the inside tin work. With the bumper covers installed she tipped the scales at just over 1400lbs, about 700lbs lighter than my old 89 GT. I know, the outside doesn't look the greatest just yet. I took it to my body guy today to get a fresh coat of Mineral Gray paint. I will post some pics once she's done. http://161.58.236.170/Side%20viewsmall.jpg http://161.58.236.170/new%20insidesmall.jpg |
uhh, i want one!
what engine combo is going in it? what do you think it will weigh when its done with the drivetrain and all? congratulations on getting it |
Looks like your going to have a KILLER set-up, good luck with it. :)
|
I will be putting my 417ci motor in it that I had in my 89'. I am hoping I can get the car down to 2500 lbs. with me in it. I better lay off the cheesburgers:D !!
|
Do you know how bad that thing would be if it was street legal!?!? WOW!
What a SWEET RIDE! Good luck with it man!:D |
Just out of curiousity, what ET is that chassis aproved for? Are you going to run the 417 in it?
|
Wow man that is really sweet!
Looking forward to seeing her when she is all done. |
that's going to be a beast kevin ,good luck send some finished pic's,take care:D
|
I have thought about making it street legal which wouldn't be too hard but I want to get the car done first. It will have functional headlights and taillights so all I need to do is wire everything else in.
The chassis is certified to 7.50 and I plan on running the 417 in it. A 25.1c car would have been a lot more expensive and I don't think that I want to go any faster than that anyway. |
yea, I just see Kevin rollin into the cruise spot in that:D :D :D

Ahhhhh, and the peasants rejoiced, Hallelujah..............Hallelujah.
That thing is freakin sweet man, I am so jealous. What kinda paint scheme are you thinkin about. Those cars look freakin awesome in Blue or Fords new burnt orange color like Wren Vanderpools new ride. That car is freakin awesome..... |
I really like the Mineral Gray (dark charcoal w/bronze tint), I think that looks really good. I think I will also have a black stripe on the bottom of the fenders and doors, or else some sort of black accent somewhere.
That burnt orange looks good too, I want to keep it somewhat simple yet flashy. Of course, any Mustang is flashy, what am I thinking.:) |
That Mineral Gray is awesome! Todd Flumans SSO car is one of the neatest I have seen in that class!
What do you run? Brackets, heads-up, NHRA, IHRA? Or is this just for the helluvit? andy |
I will be running NHRA brackets and some heads up races. Our local track with be having some 1/8 mile heads up races this year and I should have a good chance at that, especially when I pump some juice to it. I would like to make a Pro 5.0 race or 2 just for kicks although I don't think I could be all that competitive.
|
Hey Kevin, what are you doing with the 89 GT? You gonna keep it or get rid of it. It was set up pretty nice. I'd say you could make some mad cash off that rolling chassis.

I love the Orange that was real nice, I really like the Mineral Grey too. So many choices. =)
