Is the AMC 390 actually a Ford 390?
My brother has a friend with a wicked 69 AMC AMX with a totally built 390 it and he also has some spare parts for it. My brother has a 70 Ford F100 with a built 390 they were wondering if it is the same motor or not. If it is this guy will give my brother a real deal on some of these spare parts. I know AMC used to "borrow" parts from other companies so I am real curious to see if it is a Ford motor or not. Anybody out there know???

If I remember right the motors are 2 different things. I'll do some checking on it while I'm at work doing nothing else and get back to you.

390 = 390?
Sorry, the AMC 390 is not a Ford 390 (although it used a Motorcraft carb). Trust me.
Contrary to popular belief, AMC made all their own engines. |

The AMC 390 had a 4.165" bore, and a 3.574" stroke.
The Ford 390 had a 4.05" bore, and a 3.78" stroke. |
Ok, thanks everybody. I will give him the bad news. He was hoping to get some great parts dirt cheap. Oh well...
