I'm sorry to hear about your tree, but I am very happy that nothing happened to the car :) I have a friend up there in your area and she told me that they were haveing bad weather. I'm gald you and your stang are OK :) |
wow good thing it didnt smash your car, glad no one got hurt, or the car's either, you better park that pony in the garage, good luck, you gonna cut the tree down? i am about to cut down every tree in my front yard down, glad it turned out ok, cya

Spoke too soon
Well, after closly examining the stang, the roof is dented (creased) and there are scratches and scuffs all over. :( Waiting for the insurance guy to get back to us. Can I just go back to bed?????
|
ouch sorry to hear that, it could have been worse though, good luck:(
|
I am very sorry to hear about your car. I am glad that the tree didnt fall into your house though.
Makes me glad to live in California. Sure there are earthquakes but they arent very often at all and are rarely bad. :) Later and Good Luck, Nick |
I'm sorry to hear about the tree falling on your car. That really stinks. We had bad ice storms winter before last and our Maple tree touched the ground ( right beside our driveway ). We had the tree cut down the next spring. My project is to get my garage cleaned out too so I can get my stang in it. I only have a single car garage so we're having to build a storage building for all the junk. Good luck with the car, Hopefully they can get it back the way it was. Bye, Melisa

Yeah...it was a bad night here as well. There was one supercell which spawned 6 tornadoes across a four hour period. The thing just wouldn't fall apart.
One tornado dropped west of the town of Happy about 30 mi. south of here and took out the southern edge of town. It destroyed numerous homes and demolished the First Baptist Church killing two people and critically injuring two more with many wounded. The first tornado (actually the second from this storm) was a large wedge tornado, but it thankfully went back up before town as it would have taken the entire town out. The second twister was a stove-pipe which hit town. From the damage and pictures, I'd say about an F-4. Maybe a weak F-5. http://www.amarillonet.com/images/he...pytornado2.jpg http://www.amarillonet.com/images/he...pytornado5.jpg Crazy thing is I passed through Happy about 20 minutes before the twister did. I woke up with a feeling in the morning. I've had it before, and it always ends up being right. Can't really describe it. I guess when you've grown up with this stuff you get a feel for the weather. I left early for home knowing it would get bad, and luckily I left when I did. The rest of the tornados dropped over open areas with minimal damage to traffic and roads. Luckily nothing in the immediate area where I'm living and only one twister about 15 miles to the west of where my parents live. This is the first fatal tornado in the TX panhandle since 1995 when a twister killed one person on the southern edge of Amarillo. --nathan |
Here's a pic of the wedge tornado that went up before it hit town.
http://www.kamr.com/images/770282_BG1.jpg Oh...and to give you an idea of the size, this picture was taken from about 3-4 miles away. The second twister was smaller, but more focalized. I'm looking for a picture of it right now...most stations haven't updated their sites yet. --nathan |
This is a picture of a small twister from the same storm cell just outside of Memphis, TX. It overturned 4 semi's and tore the roofs off of several houses.

"tis the season" Kind of getting a late start, but severe weather is upon us.
Lets pray that no more lives are lost. Houses and possesions can be replaced, but people can't. |
Yeah...it's been a fairly quiet year so far. Only one big outbreak in April. This is the first one in May. I've seen it MUCH worse. Just keep an eye to the sky.

Sorry to hear about you car. hopefully it is something that can be fixed? not sure of the roof if it can be fixed or even if it can would it affect the way the car handle/feels/rides.
I though a hurricane was bad but they aren't half as bad as a tornado at least we know that it is coming and can prepare but how can you prepare for winds over 200 m.p.h!! a hurricane at best is like an f1-f2 with rain. |
No joke. The fasted recorded wind speed had been taken in Arkansas at 286 mph.
The tornado that hit Oklahoma city on May 3, 1999 had sustained wind speeds of 318 mph +/- 10 mph. This puts it one mph below the F-6 ranking on the Fujita scale....no tornado has ever been ranked an F-6. This type of storm pulls the pavement off the ground, completely removes houses, and even pulls foundations out of the ground. There are small, localized wind vortices within such storms in which sheer wind speeds may exceed 350-400 mph. The negative pressure caused by such storms can do some crazy ****. One such storm went through the ranch country of South Texas in an open area. The rancher went out after the storm to find his cattle dead, completely stripped of their skin but not dismembered. That is crazy ****. No storm shelter is going to help you out if one of those monsters comes by. --nathan |
The estimate to fix the damage is $1200. They can get it in next monday. Oh well. They are also fixing the couple of door dings from other inconciderate drivers.
|
not too bad, when i wrecked i only tore off my front bumper, trashed my driver's side fender broke a tie rod, etc-on & on it cost 8,000 plus i did'nt have my car for 2 month's:eek:  so i guess your lucky in that respect, good luck, glad you& your family are o k, cya

Sorry to hear that you're going to have to shell out some $$$. That price isn't too bad, however.
BTW, here's the pic of the twister that actually hit Happy... http://www.newschannel10.com/Story_P...torndado04.jpg And here's another pic of the first one... http://www.newschannel10.com/Story_P...torndado01.jpg --nathan |
We had some pretty nasty straight line winds here in the twin cities, some golfball sized hail in some spots too, but no tornado's. We've been so cold it's hard for these storms to muster up the serious power to produce tornado's. It'll happen soon enough. I was scrambling to get my car out of the hail as the first wave of the storm pushed in. No damage, only pea to a few marble sized chunks. They didn't seem to be hitting too hard.
Sorry to hear about your car 2000stanggirl. I think it's ironic that I always used our silver maple as cover for the 87GT in case of a storm with hail. Hope it turns out well for you! |
