Rice Boy Anger
Ok, I went to this car show today. Mostly Rice Boys and I got into it with a rice boy, he claims to have a turbo in his Civic but I couldn't see it or hear it. He pointed it out where it was and I couldn't really see it all but from what I could see it didn't look like a turbo at all to me. He said it was a T3 Turbo, first question is how big is a T3 turbo. Second question he reved his engine and he's I couldnt' hear it spooling and I'm like I don't here it screaming like most turbo's do, and he's like that's cause it's not in gear. I don't know much about turbo's but don't they still spool if ya rev them? so I left that alone and I have one buddy of mine argueing saying it does and 2-3 of his buddies saying it doesn't, and one was being a total dick about it. He's making smart *** coments about me. I called one of my buddies who was helping run the show and he's like it's not turbo but wasn't quite sure either. When I asked him to show me the blow off valve he's like it's over there pointing to the top of the engine where the turbo was in the front of the engine and said I couldn't see it. I'll post a picture in abit of the engine and where he claims the turbo is. Sorry this is more the less a vent, I was going to punch the guy in the face just for being a jerk.

A T3 is a turbo designed for small displacement motors, so yes, if he has one, that would be the right size for a honda. As far as spooling, you can rev the motor all you want, if it isn't in gear, you hear nothing.
|
you don't know what a turbo looks like:confused: Should be pretty easy to see.
|
Correct me if I'm wrong here.....but doesn't a blower or turbo increase your power based on a ratio of what you've already GOT under the hood? I've heard it's 40% on average. SOooooooo..it's one thing when you've already got a decent amount, like a mustang, but if you're starting with a HUGE 100-110 hp, what can forced induction really do for your weak little motor?

I know what it a turbo looks like, but his claimed turbo was covered by a metal plate so I could only see a small part of it. Here is a pic of his engine, the area in red is where he said the turbo was located.
*update* - Ok the red for some reason didn't come out anyway, the turbo is claimed to be under the metal plate infront of the block. |
I can't really tell, however the intake ducting is routed as if he has a turbo.
|
Did you see a boost controller anywhere? Nine times out of ten you will notice this in the interior somewhere to retard the timing at higher boost levels.
|
It's too hard for even me to tell. I've never seen an aftermarket turbo kit on a honda, so I can't even tell you if that would be the right place for it or not. I'll try a do a little research on the net and see if I can find any other pics of other cars.

After further research (which made my stomach turn by the way), I do believe he does have a turbo.

Hate to say it, but dude's got a turbo.
In all probability, you likely came off as another cocky domestic guy treating an actually "fast" import guy as just another ricer. That's why the guy got so mad and frusterated I guess. |
I don't think I did, and he never knew I was into domestics. And I wasn't even talking to him. My friend is like it's turbo'd and I'm like I don't hear it or see it and then one of the guys buddies jumped in and started mocking me and goes to his friends, I dunno is there a turbo in there, and acting like a jerk. If he wasn't bigger then me I was going to punch him in the face. I'll leave it for the street. I will meet up with him one day and hand him his ***. Although it did have NOS and I've come to believe it was turbo'd so it'll probably be pretty quick.
He also mentioned his booster controlled was messed up and had to get a new one. Either way I was more angry with his attitude. And it had to be a small *** turbo. |
