?'s for boat owners

I am looking at boats and found what I think is a good buy.

23' Raven countach
350 mercruiser W/ power trim

The boat need's a paint job but the inside is perfect.

What kind of paint is used for a boat? Is it brushed, or sprayed on?

Who makes "Mercruiser"? Is it a sbc? and will it except normal bolt ons that a sbc would.

Would my sbf 347 bolt up to it without major mods?

Thanks,
Wade

The paint will be a Gelcoat, and i'm pretty sure its sprayed on. The engine is a Chevy (built to mercruiser specs) and your motor would not bolt up without changing the water cooled exhaust manifolds. (not cheap).

How expensive is gelcoat compaired to paint?

Why do you need water cooled exhaust manifolds? Why wouldn't a header work?
Thanks for the reply,
Wade

You need the water cooled exhaust manifolds to just keep them cool. They pull water from teh body of water that your in through the exhaust and out of "wet pipes" or through the prop. Paint is a Gel coat and is sprayed on.. there are many places that do this now.. And some places use a House of Kolor non reactive paint for custom work.. I know of several boats here with custom jobs done and thats the pretty well teh standard for custom paint on a boat I believe. As far as its being a SBC it is. Just with the marine intake and exhaust. .Thats the only difference I know of..

Do you just keep them cool so the engine compartment stays cool? Whats it cost to paint a boat? Sorry for all the questions but I know squat about the marine stuff.
