Pontiac GTP
I need to get a second car for a daily driver soon as I get some extra money. I was looking at the newer 98+ pontiac GTP's. They look like a pretty cool car for a cruiser. What do u guys think?
Throw a few mods on it and get it into the high 13's. I'd get another stang but I would end up buying way too many parts for it. Any other ideas in the less than $11,000 range? Skyler |
Yeah man, those cars are alright.. I know a few peopel with them, they have had good luck out of them. I say go for it.

Sounds good to me!
Dammit Sky, you've been here long enough to know this kind of thread is more fun with a poll :D |
Sky, I have a buddy who has a 98 GTP. He has a smaller blower pulley and a shift kit and that's it. His best run is a 14.1!! The thing is VERY quiet and the automatic makes it a good candidate for a daily driver. I got to drive it a few years back and it was a blast. I never thought I would have that much fun driving a 4-door "family car".

GTP's are an excellent choice. I've seen one with a couple mods take a bone stock 90 GT.

Do it!

My best friend at work has a 2 door 98 GTP. he has a 3.5 pully(stock is 3.8-9) and a home-made CAI. He runs consistent 14.1's at 99mph, with his best 60' time a 2.005 on stock tires! Just put in a DHP computer for $300, & other GTPs have been getting .3 & 3mph with same basic mods, so he's easily a 13.8 car with $600 in mods & stock tires. I have given him smack when his car was stock(15.1 1/4 times) but not anymore. I have a slight edge on him as we work out our traction issues(his last run at the was the 1st since his DHP, & he couldn't get it to hook & spun his way to 14.3-5's all night long). A guy with about $2500 in mods has gotten a couple 13.28's in the 1/4!!! It is a very cool car & I wanted to talk my wife into a 4door one(they're jsut as fast as the 2doors)but she found her, gulp, SUV too soon(but at least it's a 5.0 Explorer!:D A great choice for around$10K-$12K for a '98. Good luck! If you need any other specifc advice, send me a PM. Later! Sean |
