nawssss

My nephew (he's 11) asked if I had "Nawwsssssss" the other day! I was quick to sit him down and give him a quick history of the Nitrous Oxide Systems company, and the Fast and the Furious movie. He agreed to call it Nitrous from now on!!! Hehehehe it's good to have a horsepower lover in the family! :) Just gotta make sure he gets his lingo straight!!! ;)

Way to go Joe!:D

I actually have a question about this whole thing. I have been known to refer to n2o as "NOS" meaning the N.O.S. kit. I've never seen one done by a different company and don't think anyone I know would waste their time with somebody other than Nitrous Oxide Systems.

While I know 'Nitrous' 'the juice' and 'a shot' are all appropriate, I was wondering about 'nos'.

What do you guys think? By the way, I'm not juiced and never will be, doesn't work so well on a road course.;)

i think its a matter of preference, i get pissed when people call it mustang 5.0 not a 5.0 mustang or a Cobra SVT instead of SVT cobra..as long as they don't call it a probe or a camaro i'm happy...
nawss is jus a lazy, ghetto have-asssed way of callin it "NOS"

"skizo my nizo's-:D

ps. I got another acronym:

Chevy's
Awfully
Made
Antique
Rusting
Offense

I
Rust
Over
Completely

It's just as easy to say nitrous oxide as it is to say "nawssss", so i call it nitrous oxide because no matter what kit they bought it's still nitrous oxide.
Here are some of the kits i can think of off the top of my head:
NOS
Edelbrock (which is basically NOS rebadged)
Nitrous Works
Nitrous Express
Zex
Venom
Compucar

There's probably even more than these. Why call it "nawsss" if that's not necessarily what it is. Just my opinion

I agree with Mike that until maybe a year ago, Nitrous Oxide Systems was the only system anyone here would use. Then again, they were based out of Cypress until Holley bought them, so I guess they were pretty local.

I have always called it either nitrous or juice. My best friend Dave was the first person I ever heard call it NOS (NAAS), but I soon realized that a lot of people around here do. I thought it was funny, because when I lived in L.A., a mere 45 miles away, I NEVER heard anyone call in NOS (NAAS). I just figured it must be a Ventura County thing. LOL. Below is a pic of Dave with my new bottle in '94. FWIW, he's now married with child, and shaved most of his hair off. I guess one of us had to grow up. LOL.

Take care,
~Chris

P.S. Mike, recognize the banner behind him?

KTYD

Yeah man.

I was a little distracted by all the appendages on the wall, but man I miss 'the tide'. I'm going to hop on ebay and see if I can't get a banner like that for my garage.

By the way, nice sticker on the bottle. Still looking for the perfect exhaust.

Gotta teach these kids young now a days, I was brought up on Corvettes, 5.0L's, and Horse Power. =) And in that picture did anyone notice the naked chicks on the wall first or was it me? lol :D That your room Chris? :D And it's only the NOS stickers that make your car fast anyway, it don't matter on the system.

That was taken back in February, 1994, and the wall you see in the background was actually the inside of the swing up garage door. I had a few centerfolds on the walls, but they were all in good taste.

Mike-

You want some KTYD stickers???I have a few (I used to date a D.J. there, remember?). PM me a mailing address, and you'll have them by Saturday.

Take care,
~Chris

Actually it can work just fine on a road course...that is if you have the money for a computer controlled nitrous set-up. :D :D :D

manual switch?

I'm curious as to why a manual switch couldn't be used on a road course with nitrous, at least on long straight aways? I have no experience here, so I'm really just asking.

I've never thought about running it period. Other power adders are more predictable and reliable. Not that I am blown or anything either. Maybe someone who knows about this can enlighten us all.
