Can some ricers not be so bad?!?!

Ok woh' I know I know... this is scary but anyway, I chilled with my ex tonight and 2 other car friends. So we went to a coffee shop 1 town over where we expected rice but seen none (I had my stang by the way my friend was driving his Chevy Celeb :p) Anyway, we were unsucesful but alot of people liked my car and were looking and stuff but that is no surprise. So we went back to my ex's town where is the capital of rice around here. And I went to 1 coffee shop were you are guarnteed to see rice. So anyway I park my car there is is a Yellow Type R ( I know they only come white but it was re-painted) anyway a guy was talking about my car, he was a real nice guy and said do I race I said only if they have enough money. but just laughed. Anyway he said I should race this Integera, he goes over and tells me to look at it, first thing I notice is a intercooler, so I know it's most likely Turbo charged which it is, the owner of the car (this guy's friend) comes out and we all start talking a bunch of other "ricers" come out and we're going to have a friendly race mid week just for fun. I think it'll be close though. But these guys were really nice and they even made fun of there own kind, there was also a nice VW Corrado there too. These guys knew what they were doing and knew how to do it. So they had to go after a few minutes so we took off to another coffee shop in the same town where there is always old cars. lol (This town is the best!) and there are a bunch of old guys with old cars, acouple hot rods, a GTO, Grand Am, Camaro, a few bikes, a Monte Carlo so I stop in and talk for abit, everyone liked my car aswell, real friendly people too. I was coming home and tried racing this riced out Golf but he didn't want to go. :( But I think cause I put down a good amount of rubber when he pulled up beside me. He tried taking off but I blew by him. Anyway I must say, these 'ricers' were pretty cool guys. Although they weren't all about show so they arn't true ricers. But I must say it made me feel alot better about Honda owners when you can talk to one and he reconises what he really has, compared to some bs stats he learns from the Fast and the Furious and these Import Magazines. Anywho..... Just thought since these ricers weren't so bad this time I would put in the word that not all of them are dumbshits. :D

Ricers = bad. You're going to the penatly box #4. None of this simpathy for their kind crap.

Two things about your night.

1. Integra Type R's were available in yellow. Graphite wheel, and a fairly tall spoiler. This was the second run of the factory type R.

2. These guys were not 'ricers'. Sure they are confused about what is cool, but people who actually know about cars and quote real times are not rice. They are misguided souls. I used to be one of them with my 944 and 240z. They will eventually come around to the 'no substitute for cubic inches' idea.

Sounds like a fun night.

Deuce hit it right on the money. These guys you were talking to are not ricers just because they drive an import. These guys sound like they are very knowledgable in cars they just picked a different kind of car than us.

A turbo ITR is a very respectable car in my book by the way :)

Later,
Nick

Yup I do agree, ricers are more the less people who sticker up there car. We were sitting around the cars debating who would win, weight, tourque and stuff, then he's like your car is brighter yellow and I replied but you got Type R badging and we all had a good laugh, it had no fart tipe. I'd say only like a 3 inch single exhaust that didn't look overkill, and another civic went by when he left and you could also hear the Turbo. There were alot of fast cars out on the road tonight. I think I could still take them, but I want to wait tell I get my engine work done early this week if the guy coming tommorow to look at it doesn't buy it. :( But if he buys it I will be getting another one, something that is still fast and a classic. :D

What I was gonna say has already been said, I wouldn't call those guys ricers. Heck, there was a guy on my old route that had a BMW with a spoiler that was taller than the hood line... I'd call that rice(even though its a german car).

Deuce, tell me.. do those 240s handle as well as I heard they do?? I rode in a 300zx and we took a 35mph on-ramp at 80!! I wouldn't try that in my car.

RBatson 08-17-2002 11:11 AM

Oh, I was thinking about a 280 not a 240. I have read articles about small block transplants into those old 240s. Those cars are cool in my book.

240 Z

I drove a brand new 240 Z back in '71 (I think). It was a nice car when there weren't many being made. The Z wasn't really very fast but handled OK for the times. The one I drove was automatic though, so that sort of killed the "sports car" appeal. I'm pretty sure I could have stomped it in my '71 Fiat 124 Sports Coupe.

The 2 best handling cars I've ever owned were my 87 1/2 Merkur XR4Ti, That damn thing rode on rails it was beautiful and my 94 Mercury Capri.

RBatson 08-18-2002 10:59 PM

"hood line", crap! I meant roof line.

I remember the XR4Ti, it had the exact same engine my 85 XR7 had. I think the XR7 looked better though.:)
