Alright, MWorks, Im out...
 

Well...i've been frequenting less and less lately...and I think I'm gonna call it quits for awhile...

I always considered Mustangworks my home on the net...I love the people and the site content. As a consequence of my posting, I happened to have a nicely inflated postcount. I never felt I was a "post *****" having only accumulated 1180posts in over 2 years. But, I did feel that my post count and date of register gave me some clout on the site...new members could sign up, ask for advice, and when I threw in my .02, they'd see that I'd been around, and likely knew my stuff.

Now, though, and this has been building...i'm just having trouble with some of the policies starting at this site. The eliminating the post count thing seems stupid to me...and rather than hang around and cause trouble, I think I'm just gonna bow out and say peace for now. I'm sure I'll still check here once in awhile, see how some of my net buddies are doing...but for now, Im just gonna leave mustangworks the way I found it...as a great spot on the net, albeit one that unfortunately doesnt mesh with my tastes right about now.

I would like to point out StoplightWarrior that you do, in fact, still have your post count. The only difference is that it's not stuck in everyone's face on every single post a user makes, making a competition out of it. If someone really wants to see your post count as a factor to judge you (which I think should at most only be a very small factor in judging anyone here), they can easily pull it up under your profile.

Any ways, glad you'll stick around. A post count would be a silly thing to leave everyone here for. Every member here is a valued member, whether they have 100 posts or 10,000.

Am I the only person that sees its not just about a stupid *** post count?? I can't believe anyone actually thinks that one of our long time members would leave for such a stupid reason...:rolleyes: I guess some people need things spelled out for them ;).

The fact is that the board OBVIOUSLY has in some way come to the point that it NEEDED the post count moved to a different location, that it needed the rules blatantly posted as a sticky in the main forum, and so on.

So, if someone chooses to leave because of this, I for one understand, (hell I've posted less recently than I have in as long as I can remember) but its not because of a stupid number, so please...enough with the shortsightedness.

Your post count remains on your profile. Your reputation is secure here so I'm glad you will still be around.

I can guarantee that in a few months, no one will be thinking much about post counts as the site expands and improves.

When things need fixing, we address them. The post count placement was one and it's been addressed. Simple. The rules needed to be re-stated because we get new people every day and we are no longer tolerating flagrant abuse of the staff or the facilities. A reminder was necessary and that's been done. Not a big deal.

With well over 20,000 registrations, we need to have control over the structure of the boards, as you seem to understand. A few don't or rebel at rules and/or any changes. So be it. We aim for quality and we believe we have it. I think you appreciate that, as most others do.

I understand why the rules were restated, and actually I'm glad for it (damn dirty newbies! :D) I was just surprised at some of the replies that seemed to think he would actually leave because of a NUMBER (not thinking beyond the obvious).
