Not a stang question, but I need help
I have a 98 toyota tacoma I drive while my mustang's down. It has an air conditioner in it, but everytime I turn it on, I get this old musty smell. The truck only has 65000 on it, so I thought this was a little strange. Other than using an air freshner, does anyone know how to get rid of it? Oh yeah, I already replaced the air filter. Thanks, Keith

need more info, is it still cold?

Lots of cars do this because of condensation left in the system after a run. Usually mine does it worst when running the air in the evenings. The sun cant do its work and it molds.
When it gets bad just unload some cans of Lysol up into the air inlet while its on. |
What can help is to run your car with the A/c off for a while before u turn it off. That will let the condenser blow out the rest of the cold air, thus, no bad smelling air on startup.

thanks
I'll try that. Crazy Horse, yes it's still cold. There are just times when I turn it on and it stinks so bad I have to turn it off. Its a horrible smell. I'll try both the Lysol, and turning on the air before the A/C. Thanks, Keith

Just run it down the freeway with the windows down. Its warm enought to not be a problem, and there are plenty of other smells out here.
Run the heat too sometime just in case. Would hate to find out on a cold day that reeks. |
