Would you consider the Mitsubishi Eclipse, and the Toyota Celica as Pony Cars? They're made to compete in the same class as the Mustang, so does that mean that they are Pony Cars? :eek:

Nope! To me they would be sport compacts. Toyota and Mitsubushi only dream of them competing with the Mustang ;)

I wouldn't even consider the Z or Supra as a pony car. I think it needs to be an American rwd v8 midsize coupe.

nope. not at all.
in my book, the mustang is the only pony car out there right now.

as to what duece said. i definitely would not consider any of the TT's in the same class.

vr4, 300zx, supra - those are grand tourers, built to be really comfortable at sustained highway speeds.

rx7 tt - flat out sports car

pony cars - affordable performance car, comfort and technology are really not a top priority

i agree except some do have good comfort and technology. Obviously not nearly as good as a Supra or 300ZX though.
