Since then, he's bought a 2001 Club Cab 4x4 F-150 Lariat, a motorhome, and a Jeep, and his wife said something has to go. Soooo, he asked me on Thanksgiving if I could find a buyer for the engine. I gave it some thought yesterday, and decided to make him an offer.

It's got at least $4000 worth of parts and machine work done to it, and is complete, from the new chrome oil pan (yuk), to the 750 Holley I built for it 3 years ago, and it's got less than 5k miles on it. He's throwing in everything he has for it, including the MSD 6A, so I offered him a grand for it, and he said okay.

Well, I picked everything up today, and I think I got a decent deal. The engine only has 1700 miles on it. The brand new rollers/cam/pushrods, chrome pan, and gear drive haven't ever been used. I got everything he had, including the performer RPM, an old 4-speed, 3 carbs, an extra cam/lifters/rockers/pushrods, flex fan, an electric fan, 3 engine gasket sets, 2 sets of valve covers, a MSD 6A & coil, mini starter, ARP kit, A couple boxes I haven't even gone through yet, and even the stand. It took two trips in my truck. Everything you see in the pics, for $1000. It needs to be cleaned up, but that's half the fun.

question i want to ask you Chris, $4000 motor and it has cast manifolds? that just doesnt add up! i know those things flow like crap, my buddy had them on his 79 Stang.

The exhaust went with the Ranchero, including the headers. Pat just wanted to get rid of everything, so he threw the manifolds in too.

My mistake, I thought he said cast manifold. And since he did I was going to suggest looking at this intricit and scarey litttle Mazda engine. Cast Aluminmum Manifold and motorcylce and some marine engines have them too. Hmmmm. See this whole Mustang being built in a Mazda plant just makes me wonder......

You're confusing me, too. I went to that page, and it said "The complex manifold is made of cast ferrite steel". I think you must have mistaken what James said. As you can see in the pictures, the engine I picked up has an aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. Pat put some cast iron exhaust manifolds on it, just to get rid of them, and they are what James was referring to.

If you meant something else, and I've just missed it, please let me know.

See....there I went jumpin' your S*** again! I have to confess that I did not look at your pictures, just like I know you don't read most the articles I post. :) Sorry for the confusion Gentlemen. I jumped on the terminology change without looking at the pics. My apologies to the engine building Gurus of MW.....(She bows quickly, acknowledging her error and subservient status in the engine building field {would it help if she had a low cut shirt on ;)}).....Must have had a DAY! Moment, Second....Who knows with me sometimes...You should know that Peckerwood!

You're getting weird again.

Hmmm....Is that a T-10 I see lying on the floor?? Is it a package deal only?

I don't know what the hell it is, Merc, and it's starting to bug me. It looks like any typical toploader 4 speed, except that the shifter operates through a tube that parallels the tail shaft. it's got markings, and even has an ID tag on it, but I can't find the info anywhere. I do engines, not trannies! lol.

The best I can find is that it's a Tremec 4 speed, based on one of the casting numbers (C-2604194).

Any sugestions?

You know, after looking at that without any achol in my blood, or is it blood in my achol, I dont know what the hell it is either. Sure as hell aint a T-10. Dont know how I could of mistaken that.

I have seen a similar 4spd Toploader before from Ford. Cant remember what it came out of. Cant find that part number in any of my books either. I'll let you know if I find out.
