Wheelstand video finally up...

...go here

Check it out and let me know if it works for ya. I had to resort to using my digital camera to capture the footage off my TV, since I don't have a video capture card... so the quality is marginal.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittt....that was cool....very very cool....not that i havent seen a car up on 2 wheels before, for some reason this one looks cool...lol....nice ;)

by the way...did i not see a wheelie bar on there??

The Deuce 12-02-2002 02:59 PM

Let me be the first one to say, "Holy wheelstand, Batman!"

That was straight gnarly. What'd you run getting all squirrly like that? 10.9x?

Nuts.

ultraflo 12-02-2002 03:02 PM

...who needs wheelie bars!?!?! lol!

Unless (until ;)) I run in the 8's I'm not going to use a wheelie bar... I just needed to take some bite out of the clutch (adj. pressure plate) and/or launch at a higher RPM... I was getting a feel for the new slicks and that was the second pass on them (M/T's)

Thanks, btw, I'm glad you enjoyed it... my heart was pounding after that trip down the 1320, lol.

...I lifted in first when I realized I was about to go on the bumper, got back in it... and lifted again when it got a outta shape at 80+ mph. Real nasty run. It was fun though, lol.

The first pass on the new tires was the et in my sig... 6 passes later (after the wheelstand) I cracked the block

jj_jonathon 12-02-2002 03:13 PM

11sec 1/4mile at 90mph? its like you hit the brakes :D....

You mean some 300mph tape??? Naw, I'm going to weld it all back up and try it again:rolleyes: ;) :D

I lifted... and then coasted across the 1/4 :) Too much action for one pass.

That was one helluva run!! I've always wondered what it would be like driving a car looking at the sky and not being able to steer. Sounds like fun!!!!! Great video. Me personally, I would opt for the wellie bar. Did you ever see the series of photo's on MM&FF where the dude flipped his car over backwards because he didn't have wellie bars? After the flip, it caught fire. He was able to get out with no injuries luckily.

I wondered if it would work for everyone... gotta have Windows Media Player, I believe. It's an .AVI file, and I lack the technical savvy to convert it to any other format.

Tommy Trotter was the guy that flipped his ride, btw... I saw the pics  ...I lifted, I think he tried to ride it out on the bumper.

Makes me think of the famous "Big Daddy" pic where he's got several inches of air between his tires (drag radials, btw) and the track!!!

I should have the footage posted from the other side of the track when I get a chance... might post up one of the 10.0 passes I made where I get some good air also ;)

Sweet, hopefully this summer I can show you a video of my LX doing a wheelie on a smaller scale.:D

1969Mach1 12-02-2002 08:40 PM

That is FREAKING sweet! How cool is it to look straight and then keep looking tell your pretty much looking at the sky? lol :D :D

It was a very strange feeling... hard to describe really.

I felt it coming up, and up, and up... and then realized that it wasn't coming back down, lol, and then lifted. Then, the car came back down real hard and I pulled second gear. I wasn't looking at the sky, I was looking straight ahead like normal, only I couldn't see the end of the track, rather, I was looking at the cowling (where your windshield wiper nob is) and hood thinking, "this is not good!" :D And to make matters worse, it started to get outta shape on the big end so I lifted again shortly after pulling fourth... straightened right out and coasted past the finish line. First thing I did after getting off the track, onto the return road, I shut 'er down, got out of the car, took a deep breath, and looked underneath to see what I had destroyed... I noticed one dented header tube (minor) and the bottom of my bellhousing had a big chunk of rubber hanging from it (scraped the track). Luckily I run a T-sump pan, or else I would've been shopping for a new oil pan

Crazy Horse GT 12-02-2002 11:05 PM

that was sweet, let's see a fwd ricer pull them up lol, only if it's in reverse lol, nice wheelie man. ;) :D :D :D :D

Eric4Nitrous 12-02-2002 11:58 PM

Not bad for a rookie :)

Extremestang 12-03-2002 12:29 AM

Awsome wheel-stand bro!! :D

You got yourself a sweet car there guy!!

PKRWUD 12-03-2002 07:35 AM

Very cool!!!

Time for a plexiglass floorboard.

:)

Take care,
~Chris

ultraflo 12-03-2002 03:19 PM

Thanks guys... "plexiglass floorboard" :D

Hopefully I won't make too many more passes like that next year... kills ET and parts. I hope to have the 10.03 pass posted in the next couple days. Just to show that my car actually goes straight on the big end with a 'proper' launch. However, it's not going to be as exciting as the wheelstand footage. ;)

-Ryan
