Drifting

Hi all :)

I am booked to go on a drift day with a few japanese car mates (not rice! :D) and was wondering if you guys have anything like that going on the other side of the pond?

Its starting to gain in popularity here and seeing as a Mustang has loads of power, RWD and an LSD I thought I may as well give it a go! :D

It's just fishtailing, I don't see the big deal in it.

Matter of opinon I guess, now I love drag racing my car and am an active member of an all V8 powered RWD class over here, but some might say that drag racing is just acclerating in a straight line, any monkey can do it...

I love driving my car and anything that invloves driving it gets my vote.... :D

I agree, and I like to think of it more as power sliding than I do fishtailing ...I can fishtail my truck or my lawnmower... cant do many power slides with it though

I think it will be a good laugh, here is a video of a japanese guy who apparently is a top driver in drifting...

Who wouldnt want to be able to drive like that!!

Wow! That is a little more than my idea of fishtailing. That guy is pretty good.

Was that driver wearing any type of seat belt or harness? Correct me if I am wrong, but I didn't see anything in the video. The helmet is nice and all, but was that it for protection  ?

drifting can be fun, but you ruin your tires and where can you actually drift? i like corner carving myself over drag racing, but drifting doesnt seem to be best thing to do, trying to understeer you car around every turn. just doesnt make sense. it is fun, but after awhile i want to see how my car handles, not slide. Nice car by the way! what kind of wheels are they?

I am going to use my old turbines with knackered tires to drift with, so that wont matter. We have a lot of old airfields here in the UK and they just cone out a course in like a figure of eight and other shapes and then one car at a time take turns to drift round it. I will get some pictures taken and post them up here once we have been...

If you are talking about my wheels, they are Azev 'A's 7 1/2x17, I got them imported from Germany, took about 16 weeks, but they look superb! :D

Check them out here...
