Progress!!!

I went shopping today. I stopped at a few wrecking yards and found what could be the start of my pro-streeter. The last one had a 1978 Honda Civic CVCC I can get for $100 The interior has been stripped , no column, dashbord/gauges, seats, etc. There is also no drivetrain (and I could have used an anchor for my boat) but the whole entire body is there and the glass is perfect. They also had a 75 Mustang II minus the engine but otherwise whole. I can also take that home for another $100. The 'Stang II will make a good donor for the steering system, subframes and miscellaneous interior, such as seats and steering column. I also went to see my neighbor who has a 71 Torino in his backyard. The Torino is complete but doesn't run it's not quite a 490 but it is a 460 C6 combo. The diff will also work as it is a 10 incher and could be narrowed. I can get this car for $300. Now for $500 I'll have a good head start. I'll have to wait a few months to save money for the rebuild of the engine/trans and in the mean time I will hit the swap meets for a tunnel ram. The original engine is advertised hp ratine of 208, I am pushing for at least 400 hp. I think this a long job. I think this might be a cheap one to build, I will try to keep it to a minimum but if you've been there before you always go way over budget.

Today the truck will bring the Civic and the MII. The Torino was pulled over the property line yesterday. As soon as they drop the civic and the MII donor I'll take measurments. Let you all know in a couple of day what the plans entail. Hopefully the chopping will be minimal.

sounds cool. You should post some pics before and during the swap.

I find that the firewall will need to be moved back about 6 inches to allow room for the trans housing and the valve covers. Cutting up metal is fun. I'll see about getting some pics of this Honda body before I do too much more. My digital camera is busted and the 35mm will take a couple of days to get good ones back.
