87-93 cowl panel replacement/trepair???
My notchback is super clean inside and out except for some crappy body work done on my cowl panel.
Obviously the previous owner had the hood fly back and dent the hell outta the cowl panel. Then they tried to fill in a deep dent with bondo and as you would imagine it looks like crap. Also the windshield wiper assembly that is under the cowl panel is all screwed up as well. I am debating trying to weld in another cowl panel or fix the one in the car the right way (i.e as little bondo as possible). Anyone know who sells the windshield wiper assembly. Not the actual windshield wipers but the part that they attach to. Thanks, |
Cowl replacement
I recommend abandoning your damaged cowl panel. Cut it out, then go to a junkyard and find an intact cowl assembly that you can have cut out and re-welded into your Mustang. This isn't a body piece that is normally dented or rusted (unless the victim of a flying hood, like yours) and you can use one from any 87-93 Mustang; 2.3 or 5.0. Take the wiper assembly while you're there to fix that problem, too. Clean, sand and paint the transplanted cowl then check out Mustangs Unlimited (www.mustangsunlimited.com) to purchase a new black plastic cowl cover ($83.) to finish up the job right.
Good luck. |
Thanks for your reply.
Yeah its a big undertaking,. I have to remove the front end and the fenders to gain access to the panel. I am worried about breaking my windshield while removing my cowl panel. it should be fun:o |
