Springs
Having troble tring to install front coil springs on a 88 lx, is there a special tool that I need to do this? If so what do I need to do?

Yea, you need a coil spring compressor. You can get them at pretty much any auto parts store.

There is a Ford type coil spring compressor, its an internal style with plates (not hooks) and the threaded rod has a pin thru it so it can be removed out the bottom. I have both he internal (hook)and mcpherson (external) styles and couldn't get either to work. Found the Ford style on the net for $245 and decided to make my own.
Good luck. |
I ended up using one from a schuck's store (Kragen auto parts depending on location) and it worked ok.....very scary i might add. I had to unbolt the control arms and work them from the back to line them up. It wasn't a whole lot of fun, although i was putting in drag springs, regular springs aren't near as bad. Lowering springs usually just fall right in.
