how to pitch a show idea?
 

I have the best idea in the world for a "Reality Show" for tv, and I want to get it produced. How in God's name do I do that.

First, there are no other shows like the one I want to make. Second, I have had this idea for the longest time, and now I want to get it made.

I'd tell you all about it, but knowing my luck someone would take it and I'd never get to do it. You know, the whole protecting your ideas thing. I don't want to be on the show, I just want to have it on TV. I am not the TV type. I'm a skinny, ugly, little white boy. I'll never make it on TV, and I know this. So, any ideas on how to pitch this idea?

I will say this about the my idea, it's about cars. And if some one helps me get a show out there, I would be glad to feature thier car on it. I know it sounds like an empty promiss, but it's all I have right now. Ehh.....what can you do?

I'm guessing producers get pitches all day long every day for the "hot new reality show" so you're going to have to make it catch their eye and make them really want to listen to you in the first place.

I'd maybe talk to a patent attourney or something similar to see what you can do to prevent them from telling you no at first, and then using your idea later without any payment to you.

My only advice is to document as much as you can now, so that you can prove it was your idea first.
