What would be the best way...?

Hi everyone,
I have a used set of finned aluminum "POWER BY FORD" valve covers. They are very dirty. Very, very dirty and greasy. I would like to clean them up and make them shine like new. What would be the best way to do this? Thanks!

Well...I've never had to do that before, but I'm guessing...soap and water? Maybe a nice sponge or rag or old t-shirt or something too.

Mothers aluminum polish, OK... I'll look for it. Is there any way to seal aluminum so that it dosn't absorb grim?

Just use some of that fast orange hand cleaner stuff. You know, for very dirty, greasy, oily hands, and use it on your dirty, greasy, oily valve covers. I don't know if there's much you can do about them getting dirty again. Maybe the gaskets were bad or installed badly and were seeping oil. Just get everything in the engine compartment clean and tightened up if it's not already. If that doesn't work, stop driving the car, it'll stay clean for a long time that way.

I have just sprayed them with brake cleaner solvent and then used fine steel wool on them while I had them off. Lasts only awhile and then they're dirty again.
