Is "Prom" really prostitution?
 

I have just got myself into an argument about this.

I say that atleast 95% or so of the guys that actually go to their highschool prom do so because they believe that this will help them get laid later on in the night. I sure as hell thought so when I went:)
This in my mind is prostitution. The guy pays for the tickets, dinner, sometimes a limo, the pictures, and other things through the night. And how many actually WANT to be there? How many ACTUALLY have fun?

The guy pays, the girl gives her services= PROSTITUTION

how do you all feel about it?

Depends on how sleazy the guy/girl is. I wouldn't say that 95% of guys do that, probably 85-90%. Guys are just azzholes. They just care about getting some that night, not if they hurt the girls. Girls, well, I have no clue...

Any input from the other side??

You could make that argument about almost any date. I bought you dinner, paid for a movie, bought drinks etc. and now I expect to be repaid, etc., etc.

Even marriage itself could fit that concept. I put a roof over your head, bought groceries, etc., etc. Most people wouldn't buy into the idea I'll bet. Otherwise 99.9% of us are just ho's or homongers.

i think it all depends on your school....a good majority of the kids in my class just loved to party...prom was a giant party in a country club on an island on the beachside (verrrrry kickass)...i think more people get that kinda kick outta the after parties, not prom itself...for my school id say that the percentage going to get laid would be wayyyy lower than what youre talking about...cuz you already knew who puts out, no prom was ever needed for it...lol...but i see exactly where youre coming from

****** I went and never got laid, and I paid all that money. :mad: :mad: lol :D Actually I didn't have intentions, I went to afterprom party with my school, it was at a motel, and it was all the booze you could drink pretty much. So I got pretty plastered and my g/f doesn't drink and there was like 12 people per room and I didn't even sleep that night. I was so messed up. But I got my prom gift from my g/f a few nights later. :D

Now to the point, I don't think it's considered prostituion, if so that would mean like dating a girl is prostituion. You date someone, pretty sure you hope to have sex with them, cause most people date people they are attracted too.

j/k with you man, that was kinda spoof from my selling my car post. I couldn't agree with you anymore. I didn't believe in sex before marriage tell I met my ex. I loved her so much I thought I would be with her forever, and things just got carried away. I don't say I regret doing what I did, but I kinda wish we would of waited abit longer. But it happens I guess. I don't want a slutty girl, I look for someone that is sweet, caring, and honest in a relationship. Not who's fucked every other guy. But I think most guys can agree with that.

Well, I was never one that was lucky enough to attend one of my proms....If I was....
I saw alot of "couples" serious(as much as you can be in H.S.)...I dont think it was just the scenerio of taking them out and loading them up....it would be special for 'couples'. BUT.......... if you werent a 'couple' and just a date, YA, I think the guys had expectations...its human nature.... BUT I DONT think that makes the girl a ho....... it takes 2...........IMHO!!!! :) The guys can be as big of a ho as the girls.....so, lets not get into double standards here! :D

Well, back in my prom days, I didn't ever get anything much. Not at proms or on any other dates in HS. The only times I ever got any, was when I visited certain places and paid cash in advance. LOL. (the chicken ranch comes to mind).

Yes, I went there on several occasions in HS and then in college. That was well before Marvin Zindler was interested in it. I didn't know the madam or anything, but I was aquainted with Ava, and Frenchie, and some other lady whose name escapes me.

It was long after I was married that Marvin made his famous effort there.

My whole thing was....you want me to pay HOW MUCH, to do WHAT!!!! I hate ceremonies as is, and to me prom was pointless especially since some of the girls that wanted to go i had NO interest in whatsoever and since i didn't have a girlfriend at the time, prom would have just been a waste of money before the after parties. I ended going out and partying anyway, just not for prom.
I think prom is one of those things you share with someone special, people told me to go stag (by myself) but that would have sucked really bad.

I think that the argument that it is a form of "prostitution" is sort of correct, but just about any date is like that. Although i'm not picky, so alot of my ex-girlfriends just like to have a "date" at their place, in which case it's not prostitution because i never really paid for anything :D

At one point i did value my virginity, but 8 shots later i ended up losing it to a girl in my truck i had at the time.....i don't feel it really changed me any, although your virginity is something that you should probably share with someone you actually care about, not that you hardly remember.

That is the funniest thing I've read on the site in a long time.....(no offense Canadians, all in good fun).

I went to my junior prom (last year, I'm a senior now) with a girl I had been casually dating for about a month at the time. I didn't really want to get involved with her, but she was a very nice girl and she always wanted to spend time together so we did. We went to the dance, had a decent time, but no big deal. After the dance, we're hanging out at a house with a TON of people there. She ended up ditching me for her friends. I ended up doin the hibbidy dibbidy with my ex-girlfriend at the time and later we got back together....:rolleyes: That was six months ago and we're still together....who'da thunk?:confused:

I was going to try and make a point with that story...but it completely slipped my mind and it took a small amount of effort to write so I'm not going to delete it....

Dammit anyways....:mad:
