This is just a take-off of a Yogi Berra quote. "Baseball is 90 percent mental, the other half is physical"

Yogi also coined the phrase "It aint over 'til its over"

My favorite of all time is when he referred to the poor attendance at Yankee stadium during the late innings by saying: "It gets late early around here"

He's very cool, IMO! Didn't he manage the Mets for a while, too?

Take care,
~Chris

Yes sir, he did. He won pennants in 1973 managing the Mets, and also managing the Yankees in 1964.

More of his famous quotes include: "It's like deja vu all over again", and "When you come to a fork in the road, take it"

He is my favorite baseball 'personality' of all time. Had he played in my era, he would have been my idol. Being a catcher myself in little league, I idoled Carlton Fisk.

The new AFLAC commercials that Yogi appears in are hilarious, if you are familiar with him.

I never played, but when I was a kid, Johnny Bench was who all the guys idoled. As I got into baseball a bit later, I always liked Gary Carter.

Take care,

Gary Carter was cool. If I remember correctly he played for the Expos. We had all the nicknames down when we played backyard baseball, and his was one of them. Gary Farter, Dave Porker, and Bruce Benedict and he always will be a dick, were some of the favorites when we were kids.. heheh

Yup. He played with the Expos for most of his career, but he spent his last few years with the Mets, and was part of their '86 World Series winning team.

Take care,
~Chris

Smile Can I quote you?

Another Yogi gem:

"You got to be careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there. " - Yogi Berra

A few others I wish I had said:

"The graveyards are full of indispensable men." - Charles de Gaulle

"You can pretend to be serious; you can't pretend to be witty." - Sacha Guitry

"I have an existential map; it has 'you are here' written all over it." - Steven Wright (comedian)

"If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?" - Abraham Lincoln

"You can get more with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone." - Al Capone

"I don't want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve immortality through not dying." - Woody Allen

"I saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt with 'Guess' on it. I said, 'Thyroid problem?" - Arnold Schwarzenegger

Many more but these are a few favorites.

I used to quote that all the time, talking about my favorite bar.
