Finally - Track time. Need analysis.
My car was driven by a friend on his first run (only made two) to a best time for the day of 13.730 @ 102mph. The 60ft time was somewhere around 2.3. This was accomplished on street tires with one wheel spinning.
What is the potential for this car if the 2.73 gears are swapped for 3.73's with a rebuilt traction lock and slicks? Thanks. ------------------ ICQ# 42269241 Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here |

I think I already responded to a question like this you had in another thread. But with gears/traction on slicks you should have a low low 13sec ride.

What would I need to get into the low to mid 12's besides a good set of heads? I know heads would probably help a bit, but these stockers seem to be doing fine for now. Here are the track time varying mods:
• 76mm C&L MAF • 24lb SVO injectors • Walbo 190lph fuel pump • 65mm Explorer TB • MAC cold air kit • K&N air filter • GT-40 intake • Ported stock ET7E heads - 3 angle valve job - shaved .030 • F303 cam • 1.6 roller rockers • Crane valve springs • MAC 1 5/8" long tube headers • MAC 2 1/2" Pro Chamber • MAC 2 1/2" cat back with chrome tips • MSD Blaster coil • Taylor Spiro Pro plug wires • Taylor battery box in trunk • 130 amp 3G alternator • Stewart High volume water pump • Heavy duty radiator • FMS 3.73 gears • Ford 5300C Springs • Koni Sport Yellow struts and shocks • BBK caster/camber plates • 16" Cobra R rims • 225/50ZR16 Dunlop SP Sport 8000 tires • Pro 5.0 shifter I have also ditched the A/C and smog stuff. I don't want to go with any NO² or anything like that right now. I want to go all motor until I can't go any faster. Help me get there! ------------------ ICQ# 42269241 Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here |

A set of 4.10 gears, and some slicks will get you in the 12's. A nice drag suspension will get you even deeper.

Nice.
For a car running 13.7 at 102 (!) w/ bad 60ft times @ ~2.3 sec. That's awesome. Get the traction lock, good drag radials, 3.73s (although it'd be good if you got it dynoed b4 you got the gears to observe your exact power band) and you should get 60 ft times like 2.1-1.93 (est) and 1/4 ETs of close to 13.2xx-13.09x! Those are my educated guesses. I would be shocked if you couldn't get a 60 ft time better than 2.0 and 1/4 mile of better than 13.3. ------------------------------- '79 Mustang Coup w/ 4" Cowl Stock 5.8L, C4 w/ shift kit Holley 750 cfm, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake 1 5/8" MAC shorty headers, Al driveshaft 2.5" Off road H-pipe, 2-chamber Flowmasters Front: 225/60/15, Rear: 255/60/15 Eagle GT II Weld wheels (15x6;15x8), 8.8" Rear w/ 3.55s 14 x 4” K&N air filter (getting the Xtreme setup soon) "Red, thou art my companion. Hey kevin, You knocked about a second and a half off of your last try. Sounds like you have it running well. Let me know when you want to put the gears in. It should be a rocket once you get both wheels pulling....Craig

I actually knocked 2 seconds off =) Would have been a bit more if the gears were in.
I have to get a new tranny now Craig, so I'm not sure when I'll be doing the gears. I think my input shaft is toast. We won't be sure until we pull it apart. ------------------ ICQ# 42269241 Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here |

its not too hard to get into the 12's if you can drive and have a good set of tires. I have 3.73's intake cam pullies exhaust car weighs 2800lbs and a built C4 with a trans brake and if i missed anything it is in my signature but i have ran a best of 7.94@85 in the 1/8th and that is said to be a 12 second pass. so you can get there by spending limited money like i have
Good Luck and i hope you reach that 12 second goal. ------------------ 88LX 5.0,C4,3200stall,TFS stg 1 cam, ported E7's, BBK LT's, Race magnum bullets, ASP 3" pulley, 3.73's, 75hp NOS Dry Kit, Explorer intake 7.94@85 N/A 1/8th C4 7.61@89 N2O 1/8th T-5 http://www.angelfire.com/ns/PurgingPony/50mainpage.html |

if we tried a few more runs i bet we/I coulda got it a little faster, maybe 13.5's, it was a dog off the line but pulled great the rest of the way, theres no way you'll be able to launch without some good tires after you put the gears in, it was bad enough with the 2.73's when did you say theres gonna be another race up there?

I was wanting to get in it and try shifting at 5000rpm and see what I could get with it but the tranny was too far gone. With the 3.73's I'm also rebuilding my traction lock and even adding an Explorer truck spring in there to tighten it up even more. I'll email you the specifics on the race Drew.
