Return post count or not?...lets see your votes. PLEASE REPLY!!!

Well, we've had no post count here on Mustang Works for some time now. We've all had a chance for it to settle in and to see how the board is without it.

What I'm looking for here is to guage if members want the post count back.

Let's see your votes!

:D Hmmmm

Well, at first when they disappeared from the usual spot, I was kinda wanting it back, but now I could care less.... Seems like I know the people I know here so well, I don't need to see their post count everytime. Every once in a while I'll go to the top 100 posters and check it out. However, I'm glad we still have the option of viewing our post counts in our profiles. Reminds be how long I've been here. :)

Topless In Texas 01-10-2003 01:39 AM

no problem w/ me....:)

I for one, dont really miss it, but I would not mind seeing it again. :) Hell, every other message board has it....

and FoxBody is right, we can always look it up.....I just dont think its that big a deal if we have it or not. I just like it myself. Most EVERYONE here knows where everyone 'stands' in posts...it should just not be made a big issue of.....;)

:)TNT:)

I'll say the same thing I've said all along: It helps me identify other members, just like their Location does. I don't care if mine is shown, I benefit from seeing other peoples post count listed. I would definitely like them put back.

Take care,
~Chris

I agree, same here

I find myself clicking on peoples profile quite a bit to see how many post they have.

About 80% of the members are newbies anyways.

post count != experience.

I know I don't post a tremendous amount here, but I have learned who knows what they are talking about just from reading the posts every day.

I have seen much too much contention on other websites because of post count and was actually pleasantly suprised to see that they weren't on here any more when I came back.

I don't care if they stay gone or they come back.

lol...im one of the top 50 posters here and i know very little about cars...so thats not really true...my post count means i have nothing else to do... :D:D....oh, and im learning :) hehe

i dont think it makes a difference anymore....i have 1/2 post anyways! :p lol

Hethj7 01-10-2003 02:35 PM

I am with Chris on this one. I help identify people by using their posts counts, although I realize that posts don't equal knowledge or even how long a member has been on the boards. I am here nearly everyday just browsing and keeping up with what is going on in BOL, but I rarely post anymore.

umm that's what the != means. It is the only way to represent a not equal to symbol on a QWERTY keyboard. Can't even do it with extended ASCII. So programmers use the != to mean the same thing as the old = with a / through it in mathmatical terms ;)

I don't really care about them, but it would be nice to have them back.

Yeah, I have it too, but it doesn't show up in here.

XR1stang 01-10-2003 04:58 PM

yah you can get a font to show it, but if someone doesn't have that font all they see is the square like on these boards :)

oh and most programming languages I know accept the != (pronouced bang equal) as the representative of not equal to.

lol, the funny thing is I'm not a programmer! I just have been around them for much too long now and I have picked up some of their bad habits of interjecting bits of code speak in to real life communications.

and no comment on my neato spiffy uber ½ symbol? w00t!

I liked the post count...............couldn't see what real harm it did. I can certainly live without it................but why should we? I guess Dan has his reasons?

90'5.0 Conv 01-10-2003 08:20 PM

I liked the post count also. I'm not here much and people come and go. The post count really helped me identify the people that were really devoted to the site. I would like to see it put back.

James
