I really doubt the Stratus was stock. Probably had NOS, maybe a turbo to boot.

Demon, have you ran it at the track or on the G-Tech? You need some kind of baseline to see what your car is doing. A stock Stratus should not be able to pull on you if your car is anywhere near OK. I kinda agree with Unit. Maybe the Stratus isn't stock.

Ok, here is my take on what happened. First, let me say that I ran a Dodge Stratus R/t when my 00 GT was stock. I beat it, but it was pretty close for a sec. The *girl* had at least exhaust, cause it was loud, and maybe more. So, they aren't THAT slow. Probably like 15 sec car with a few mods. Also, if the stratus had a head of steam already when he was passing you, and then you floored it, he had an advantage. Still, that shouldn't happen to your car with the mods youve got, so he very well could have been far from stock. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You said you shifted from 4th to 2nd. What were your RPMs in 4th and what did they go to when you shifted to 2nd?

DemonGT:
Sounds like you have a high-13 to low-14-second Mustang. According to magazine reports, the Stratus is a high 15-second car. My guess is that the Dodge had built up speed already and was - as you said - already in the process of passing you. You probably would have done better downshifting to third, if that. I've lost to guys that were passing me because even though I had a faster car. Unless you have 400 + HP it's hard to reel in a car that's already doing 75 mph or more going past you when you're doing 50 or so. Of course, the Dodge could have had nitrous oxide or you could just be running poorly but I bet the Stratus just jumped you out enough from behind to cancel out your HP advantage. It happens. |
