Selling the Ninja
Well... I just can't afford it anymore... almost 300 a month for payment and insurance, and I rarely ride anymore, been SOOO busy! It's a really hard decision, but one I have to make.
I still owe 3,800 on it, it's a '99 ZX-6R with 7,000 miles on it, brand new dunlops, K&N, Vance and hines titanium slip on, tinted screen, flush signals, and a trick kit. Not a scratch on it, NEVER been down. Always kept under a cover in the carport. Not one for stunts either, I only go fast. Do you think I could sell it for 4,500?? I could really use the extra cash!! What do you think??? |
Man, Joe, I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes I think of selling my bike because I could use the money, but it is now paid for and I only carry liability insurance, which runs like $150 bucks a year. I know I am screwed if I put the bike down, but they want $650 bucks a year for full coverage and the bike is probably only worth about $3,000....plus if I put it down, I will be more concerned about myself than the bike. The bike is too nice to have around campus. It saves me so much time getting too class and in what I would pay for parking meters.
I wish you were closer to Missouri. My roommate is looking to buy a new bike and yours would be perfect. That price sounds pretty reasonable to me. I think it would sell for that up here fairly easily. Good luck! |
:(:(:(:(
I'm sorry Joe, I know how much you love your bike...seems like life has got the best of all of us now when it comes to our wallets....:(
But I REFUSE to give up my car! Wish something else could work out for ya and you could keep it. Best of luck to you and if YOU DO really need to sell it, I hope it sells fast for ya! Good luck! Love ya man! Talk to ya soon! Christine TNT :) |

YIKES
GEEZ....u work 45 min. from your house? Thats awful!!!!!! Makes me glad Im about 3-5 minutes from the shop!
Marty! LOL! :D TNT |
Yeah I understand your thinking, Joe! Sometimes you just gotta give up one toy to keep another, especially when you dont have the time to give her the attention she deserves!
I haven't even been able to practice my riding because of 1.) time 2.) no place for bike in ghetto apt complex 3.) unwilling to ride among ghetto tourist/resort area drivers!!! It just doesnt seem right to leave 2 beautiful bikes cooped up 1.5 hours away in a garage :( Just dont forget that selling your bike now doesnt mean giving up riding, it means you can buy another bike later when your finances/situation is more favorable for more toys! :D As for $4500, you could try, but I'd say expect more like $3900. Our 01 Candy Blue Kawi with 7K miles has a trade in value of $4745 (add a little for less miles) and we're lookin' at MAYBE $4900 tops. For your bike, trade in is $3755, and retail is $5445 (with average miles). But it seems that when shopping with private owners, people ALWAYS try to get the trade in value  Just ask for a couple hundred more than what you owe, and settle for an even break! Anyways, good luck, and keep us posted! |
