I completely agree. Probably the most all around fun car I ever owned was a 1977 T/A. It wasn't a racecar, but it was fast. It also drove like it was on rails. High speed handling unlike any other vehicle I've owned! It also turned heads everywhere. I met more girls with that car than any other, by far. Take the T-tops off and cruise Surfers Point, or State Street in Santa Barbara, and it was on. That was a fun car. It would smoke the tires for days.
As far as the one on eBay, no thanks. I wouldn't pay $100 for it. In fact, I don't even think I'd take it for free. It needs too much. The engine it has is great until 75,000 miles, then it's disposable. The Olds 403 is a great engine when it's young, and has tons of potential, but their bore is so large, they really can't be successfully rebuilt, unless you do it early.
It needs an interior and paint, an engine, and who knows what else. More work than it's worth. Now, if I found another '77 with a clean body, that would be different.
