actually it didnt scare me at all, when it first happend i thought i broke the trans again. once i found out what it was i couldnt do anything but laugh about it.(this was a long time coming)
the cause was a rather common problem that for knew about. once the 5.0 HO exceeds 350hp, the snout of the crank has a tendency to break at the counterweight right behind cyls #1 and #5. im not sure why the block broke like it did and neither is FORD(my bro took it to work today and a ford engineer looked at and took several pics of it too. waiting to hear back)
josh, pending what ford says, id consider sending you the snout of the crank. im keeping the piston/rod and im putting it in a glass case and titling it" THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD, DID, AND NOW NO LONGER CAN!"
