Actually don't wait for the third amber, you will be sleeping. As long as you aren't in eliminations, try taking off on the second yellow. Human and car reactions added together make for slow responses sometimes.
Hopefully by eliminations (if you are running in them, such as bracket racing) you will have figured out the tree. Don' t be afraid to red light during test & tune. Cutting good lights can win you a trophy and or money if you are consistent.
Also like what was stated, do not go through the water box with street tires. Go around and back up to before the water starts and clean the tires off (quick burnout), just to get the dirt off and to get some of that good sticky rubber on your tires.
There are so many more things that could be said, but sometimes you need someone at the track to help.
But don't get discouraged, its all about having fun no matter what happens. The first time out I almost won my bracket and $500. Because of my inexperience, I lost.
