The fuel guage is probably the sender in the tank. You could probably ignore it...by now you know what kind of mileage you get so just reset the trip odometer on every fillup and make sure you fill up again when you've driven 12 gallons * your mpg. So if you get 20 mpg then fill up every 12*20 = 240 miles.
I feel your worry about the oil guage though. Mine started wigging out last summer. I actually rode 4th gear down the highway because the pressure dropped to zero below 2k rpms! I soon realized if that was really happening my engine would have fried probably before I even noticed the guage. I bought a mechanical kit (Sunpro, water temp, oil pressure and ammeter I think, $30 or so) but haven't yet installed it. The tubing is coiled up in a tight ring and I wind up breaking it if I unroll it.
Back to your original question...a little complicated. The car registered about 79k 1.5 years ago when I got it. BUT...the speedometer was broken. Drive gear in tranny came loose. I drove probably 15k-20k until I rebuilt the trans last August. I'm now at 91k but there is an error of 9% because the new gear combo doesn't match my tires (another story), so about 13k miles since then. I'll estimate 18k for the pre trans rebuild.
79k + 18k + 13k = 110k. Plus I don't know how long the previous owner drove with the speedo broken. So it's probably a few grand above that.
