$600. for four tires
is a lot. That comes to
$150. per tire. Typical, non-performance passenger car tires usually run around $80.- $100. each, or even less with off-brands and smaller sizes. 'Performance' tires (16 - 17", 'V' or 'Z' rated) around $1100. to $130. each, at least, in my experience. Of course, when you factor in balancing, valves, possibly an alignment and whatever taxes you had to pay, it's not unimaginable that you paid $150. per tire, although that's more than I've ever shelled out, even for V-rated rubber.
I'll guess that you might have bought your new tires through
Tire Rack, and if so, had to pay local 'mounting fees', which can seriously raise the final,
on-the-car-and-out-the-door price of the tires. Whatever the 'deal', I hope you got some
super tires for that kind of cash!
