I was at work on the phone with a client booking his travel arrangements (I'm a gov't travel agent). We were also trying to listen to the radio. My husband works at the Pentagon, and I heard the breaking report of a plane hitting the Pentagon. I stopped dead in my tracks and listened to the radio, completely ignoring my customer. Then other coworkers ran to me to tell me the Pentagon had been hit and they asked if my husband was at work, which he was.
I started crying and shaking and tried to call his office (what was I thinking?) It was not until 315pm that I learned he was ok. He made it home, but could not get through on either land lines or cell phone to find anything out. All hell seemed to break loose for a while.
My prayers and Godspeed to all those in NY.
