Arrow I'm finally going to race Legally!!!!

I've been planning on going to the Ford Mod Motor Shoot Out since I heard about it a few months back.

Well, since I got the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off, I thought.....What the Hell, I'll run in the Shoot out at Rockingham.

I cant wait, this will be my first run down a legal dragstrip. Hope I dont blow a$$. Anyone from here gonna be there? Its June 2nd, and 3rd at the Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina. I could use some fans.

I hope to have a Steeda Tri-Ax added to my 2000 GT's mod list by then. A little added insurance for the tranny never hurts.

Oh, I know drag racing is addicting. But I do it at the lights on the streets. I'm already hooked on it.

Cant wait to see what kind of numbers I actually turn in. Good or bad, I'll be sure to share it with you all.

Now heres a question. Is racing at the strip anything like racing on the street? Maybe I should run at the local strip once or twice before I make an a$$ out of myself at rockingham.

Go to a test and tune so you will know what to expect. I went to a few test and tunes before i ever raced and it helps to know where to go and how things are before actualy racing.

Wink

One of the guys at work that races (there are about 5 of them) is letting me borrow his head gear so I dont have to go out and buy a helmet.

70$ to enter, 1000 dollar 1st place prize for the class I'm entering, 400$ for second. I dont expect to win, but I sure as hell will have a blast while doing it.

One of the guys said he made it to the finals at his first Shoot-out, which was also his first ever run down a drag strip. There trying to encourage me. I just have to perfect my launching now. Guess I'll be practicing the next few Saturday nights at the stop lights!

I hope I qualify. That would kick mad a$$. I'll be sure to post what ever happens.
